Than after it disconnects I get Error Code
Error Code: FFXI-4001
Connection to server lost. Press OK to shut down.
I have a router, and inputed the proper ports that needed to be inputted. I also contacted my ISP and I am waiting to contact Playonline via phone.
Can someone please help me out? Tell me what you know, even the littlest bit of information about this sort of problem will get me motivated. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-28-2003, 08:13 PM | #2 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 20 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 58 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 58 Donate | i have a router too do you know where i change the settings to open the specified ports | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-28-2003, 09:13 PM | #3 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 24 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 199 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 199 Donate | Goto Playonline.com and choose 'USA' and it should bring you to FFXI main page. Then you click 'Getting started' and then 'Windows' and it'll show you some requirements. After that it'll tell you the required ports to be opened under 'Router'.
All this Data being kept to enter other places is messing up my gameplay. =( | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-28-2003, 09:19 PM | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 20 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 58 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 58 Donate | i found the ports i need to open. what kind of router do you have? i have a panasonic kx hgw200. do you know where to configurate ports for a router? i know how to set my TCP filters but i am not sure if that is opening my ports. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-29-2003, 01:04 AM | #5 (permalink) | | Programming Slave Administrator Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: California, USA Posts: 1,556 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 65 Thanked 60x in 29 Posts Gil: 46,944 Bank: 20,883,294 Total Gil: 20,930,238 Donate | FFXI and PlayOnline requires the following ports to be allowed through for the following reasons:
TCP 25, 110, and 443 for e-mail
TCP 80 for web access
And dynamic ports 50000 to 65535 for various communications
UDP ports 50000-65535 for various communications
There should be a setting to allow you to specify that when your computer requests a port, it will trigger the rule to allow access activating all the other ports for a specific communication with a server. You can set it so that one or more of these ports will trigger the rule:
TCP 51220 (Authentication Login)
TCP 53001 (FFXI Patch Connection)
TCP 54001 (FFXI Connection)
TCP 51300 (PlayOnline Menu Update)
TCP 54000 (PlayOnline Patch Connection)
TCP 51240 (PlayOnline Redirection Connection)
It is usually safe to make it so at out going request on that port to a certain server will allow that server to connect back on the other ports. You may have to fiddle with the settings a bit. Maybe I will post up a guide at the end of the month on configuring your firewall.
Please find a place for your router configuration that has "PORT TRIGGERING" or "APPLICATION TRIGGERING" and enter 51000-55000 TCP for the trigger ports! Then input all the ports as specified in the manual to allow access after those ports are triggered. I presume, however, that you have a NAT Router acting as a firewall. If you set the application gateway as specified it will work.
