Hey, just thought I'd let you know that the problem has been resolved ![]() There's an option on the networking tab of my connection called QoS Packet Scheduler. I unticked this and the game now perfectly works. Hope this helps others in future. |

Did you even read the op of this thread? Video Card and Screen Problems thread. Did you try all of these or at least skim through other suggestions made in this thread? FYI, I used to run my computer with 1 gb of ram too and to do other things while playing FFXI, it wasn't enough. Might be another thing you can look into, some cheap ram. And computer specs also help people be able to answer your question. It's like calling the garage where you get your car fixed and say to them "Hey my car runs like crap and I use premium gas, how do I fix it?"

Quit posting the same question over and over. Answer the questions. Did you read the op that I linked you to? Did you try the suggestions? Did you look at people's replies and suggestions and try them? What have you tried? It's important so people know what you've already done and if it worked or not. And posting your specs means more than your video card and that you have a gig of ram. >< What is your version is your graphics drivers? CPU? This stuff is important and helps people be able to help you.

Hello! I am having issues with lines on the ground of the game showing up and certain certain areas of the ground are flashing somewhat. Now I have a 256MB Graphics card and haven't had any of these issues before. Are these glitches in the game or is it my PC? (I've cleaned out my PC with canned air/checked updates/set my resolution down) <Help me Out!> Last edited by Braego; 07-09-2008 at 09:04 AM. Reason: Wanted to explain the steps I took... |

I had that problem or something similar on a new laptop. I played FF about a month and then all of a sudden one day charaters were 'staticy' or flashing and the graphics were just messed up in some areas. I didn't realize that Windows Vista has automatic updates enabled and saw that the day before it download a bunch. So I rolled back all the updates I could, but it still was messed up. There was one update that was permanent that I couldn't roll back so I just restored the laptop to original conditions and it worked fine again. The only problem is currently I am blocking any updates for fear of it messing up the game again. But i'm sure it isn't very wise to do that for long.

I recently had these issues myself and I had to replace my graphics card. To really help you, people will need your computer specs and what version your graphic drivers are. Also you might want to consider how old your graphics card is because I'd bet you probably need a new one.

Well I just bought the laptop a few months ago, so I hope I don't already need a new graphics card! I don't have the specs available right now but can post them later. I was planning on updating one thing at a time *(evetually) and then checking the game to see if it messes it up. It works fine now and no problems now so I am thinking it was the update I couldn't roll back and/or that with the combination of another update(s). I might have just needed to update other things like Direct X or something that might not have been automatic? I also have two other desktops I play on so I can still get my fix and not HAVE to have this one working. So the issue has taken the back burner.

I'm not sure what I have to do to tell you the specs of my computer. But I have had to resort to city of heroes until I get paid and can replace my ffxi disks. It keeps telling me I'm using old drivers for my card and it may run slow. During play it is a bit jumpy and dodgy looking. I went to the nvidia site to update them and wasn't sure which one I needed to get "me and technology dont mix too well" So I used the 2nd option to automatically find drivers for my nvidia products. It tells me I'm using NVIDIA GeForce 6200, and Current Installed Driver is 93.71 and that it recommends GeForce Release 175 Version: 175.19 WHQL I downloaded it and tried to install it but it made my desktop icons really big (like an inch high on the screen, and the colours were basic.) I tried to resolve this from the control panel but nothing I did seemed to change it. My card is made by ASUS and has N6200 on the box of it. I know I said city of heroes but I'm guessing if it pointed it out on that game then maybe fully updated my ffxi performance would be better. (visually not game skill lol) If anybody can help me it would be greatly appreciated, also I'm not very tech savy so if it can be put as simple as possible that would be great (blonde level would be good too) thanks in advance for anyone that can help me out. cheers Satori

okay... I just recently got a new vid card, the radeon 4850... i must say i'm pretty happy with the results with other games. (i originally was running the 2900XT) BUUTTT... ffxi doesn't seem to run on the 4850... T.T... welll... the game starts up, but there are no textures at all and only the models are rendered. I have latest ati catalyst drivers 8.7... maybe ffxi isn't compatible /w these new cards?? the game worked perfectly fine on my 2900XT... here are the specs windows XP 32-bit intel e2160 1.8 ghz OC'd @ 3.2 ghz 2.0 gigs of ram 1000W BFG power supply ASUS ATI 4850 512 DDR3 updated directx 9.0c drivers |

My Mood: | Re: Video Card and Screen Problems thread. GOD DAMN Now thats a psu! Overkill for your system but......GOD DAMN! Try downgrading to other drivers, FFXI can be finicky. Did you check the FINAL FANTASY XI Official Web Site site for compatible drivers? I believe there is a link at the top called Platforms and a drop down for link, Windows.

haha... yeah my 2900XT that I used before was an energy killer plus OCing 80% also puts up the wattage, so i had to get the 1000 watt... but the 4850 runs wayyy more efficiently with a lot less power... so i don't really need it now =\ unless i go crossfire... i'll try downgrading... but i don't know if my card will run with different drivers since the new drivers were made to fit my card... =\ plus i still play age of conan and tabula rasa a bit and it runs sooo much smoother with the new driver... =( yeah lots of mmos rite now... just got all 3 to see which one i wanna stick with lol... sooo i tried it using the 8.6 driver (cause it worked with my 2900xt) and it didn't work =\ i guess i'll have to use my other comp to play this game =((((((((((((((((((((... booo hoo Last edited by gakattack; 07-27-2008 at 03:50 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost | |

Ok. So I am having some framerate issues with Final Fantasy XI. I played a few years ago and it ran grate, but i have had some upgrades since then. I have 4.0 gig of ram, an Nvidia Geforce 9800 GX2, Windows Vista SP1, Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300, running in 1280 x 1024. If someone could please tell me why my game looks so choppy its unplayable i would greatly appriciate it. I have the Ntune program specfic manager as well so i can fine tune the setting for each program. I just cant get it to run smooth please help! My current ffxi setup is 1280x1024 |
