PS2 Connecting to the Internet Problem - please help!
Hi
I have a big problem.
I have an USB-ADSL-modem and I have connected the japanese PS2 with the PC through a network card.
But always when the PS2 must connect with the Internet to install the game, there is an error. I can't go online with the PS2.
Does anybody has an idea what is the problem?
Do I need maybe another modem or a router or something else?

Thank you very much!

PS: I use Windows 98 Second Edition.
PS2: Please excuse my bad english:sweat:

Win98... umm
your network card TCP/IP setting on Win98 should be like:
IP 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

just enable internet sharing on this card

your BB Navigator Network setting:
IP Auto = (no) shinai
IP address: 192.168.0.168 (or something like that)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Address: 192.168.0.1 (your Win98 IP)
Primary DNS: 192.168.0.1 (your Win98 IP)
Sencondary DNS: (empty)

note: The "Default Address" means Default Gateway. I was confused for an hour for this..... :|

after setting these things, you should be able to install, POL.
Set the POL network setting to be the same as your BB Unit, you should be able to register POL, and logon to it.

After that just install your FFXI, Register it, purchase a content ID, off you go~

And can you please explain me, where I can make this settings on the PC.

Sorry, I don't know much about this stuff.

I have not touch Windows98 for ages, so I don't know where exactly it is, but I'll tell you how to set it on Win2k, it should be fairly similar:
On your desktop tool bar, go
"Start->(S)ettings->(C)ontrol Panel"
this should open up your control panel

in your control panel, double click on
"Network And Dailup Connections"
You should see some connections with type of LAN
Right Click on the connection to your PS2, and select "Property"
(if you did not touch anything here before, it should be "Local Area Connection")

On Properties dialog, in C(o)mponent checked are used by this connection:
Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and click on "P(r)operties" button. This should bring up Internet Protocol Properties dialog

select "U(s)e the following IP address:" and type in
IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

don't worry about default gateway
and click on ok to close Internet Protocol Properties dialog

You should be back to Local Area Connection Properties dialog by now. click on sharing tab, and tick "(E)nable Internet Connection Sharing....."
then click on ok, to close it.

that's about it for PC part

next, the PS2 part

PS2 part, well, I don't have the machine here
so I cannot tell you where exactly to set it. but if you install(re-install) your BB Unit, you will go thru it. As it is in Japanese, and I don't have japanese IME here at work, I can't really tell you..

Anyway, see how it goes
