"Failed to Initialize Direct 3D"!!!! - Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel :: Community

Help me please!!!! My game was running just fine, better than fine even. I just got my graphics card today and was enjoying the game for about 1 and a hlaf hours when my sister wanted to get online. She was getting snippy and wouldn't wait for me to sign out so it typed in "/pol" yo go to pol. But it was fullscreen POL so I just hit CTRL ALT Delete to minimize it. It did and she went and did whatever online. But something happened. Once I brought it back up it was grainy and really slow, the cursor was slow and typing messages was extremely slow. I got disconnected, go figure. I hit "return to game" And it tried but it couldn't load it. It said "Failed to initialize Direct 3D check to see if your computer is up to stats" or whatever. I don't get it, my game was just working!!!! Someone help me please!!! Now it always says that and the game won't load. And POL is grainy. Even with my graphic settings at max. I restarted my comp and POL was fine until I tried FF11. Someone please help!!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention I can no longer view my FF11 config. I couldn't before I got my new graphics card and me and my friends figured this meant you needed a new graphics card. But I got a GeForce FX 5200 PCI and it was working perfectly earlier, please someone help me!!! I don't know what to do. Should I just try to reinstall the game? If I do are all my patches gone? It took me 11 hours to get that one patch and I don't wanna do it again. Someone help me.

Great, I uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing changed. :Sigh: Great so no one can help me. Wow, I got to play for two hours. This game is REALLY pissing me off now.

Ok I calmed down a bit and this morning I unistalled the card. When I get home I'm gonna try to reinstall it and see if that works, my friend said it should and if that doesn't just move it to another slot. Wish me luck.

great, my mom unistalled the card and reinstalled it. Everything appeared fine, hey I could even see the ff11 config. but then I had to update so I went throught the 11 HOUR patch and when I woke up this morning it was done. I thought, hey I can play!!! But no, how fucking wrong I was. I went to play and low and behold, "Failed to initialize direct3D." And then the whole POL went back to it's grainy old self, so I ask again. "CAN ANYONE FOOKING HELP ME FOR CHRIST'S SAKES!!!!!!!???????"

OMG!! Praise the Goddess 1,000 times!! Something happened, I can't even remember what I did but I was messing around in something and now it works!!!! It works!!! I'll see all you people in Midgar!!
