Is the downloadable benchmark using the game's engine?

I'm curious because my computer is having some freaky problem where it runs some stuff, (like cod, sof2, wolf:et) but on others (like warcraft3) it hard locks my comp. Being poor its hard to find the cause of the problem but since most of the games it doesn't lock on use a similar engine (cod, sof2, et all use q3a engine, maxpayne works too though diff engine). So i ran the benchmark and it went through find with no errors at all (hittin around 3100 on high res and 4725 on low res), so if its pretty much just a non interactive "version" of what the game is like i can expect it not to hard lock on me.
