LoL I wish I could go 2048x2048 with my 8500 . I'm running 800x600 (tex@960x720) and 2x AF, no midmap. Lowest I get is about 20fps in Sandoria when viewing far into the distance. Any lowere fps strains my eyes. Also 2x AF is a must, that damn texture flickering in the distance hurts my eyes big time but it looks so much better with AF on. 4x is perfect for me but hurts performance too much.

hmm

This might be a retarded question...but ok:
I orderd a 9800 XT, along with other shit, becaus im building a new comp...but i am keeping my old piece-o-shit monitor.
It goes up to 1280x1024 reso. Will i be able to max out the reso anyways? Or do i need a better monitor?

It doesn't matter what resolution your moniter supports it just renders the background textures at a finer quality. If you really want to see this game at its full potential get a flat or a 19 inch lcd you jaw will drop.

So only the overlay resolution is dependant on your monitor, not background?

Sweet! I'm setting it to 2048x2048. Time to put my ATI Radeon 9800 pro to the test.

i wouldn't go pass 1600x1600. I tried the max setting with my 9600XT and it wouldn't cut it . good luck

What's the highest settings you think I could set a Quadro 4 128 MB card to? I have dual AMD 1.8's and 1 Gig of DDR Ram. How high do you think I could take it? I know it's a workstation card but it runs FFXI at the highest settings you can use with the FFConfig tool without ANY problem so maybe I could bump it up higher...

Would there be a noticable difference doing this on a TD Nvidia GeForce FX 5700 with 128MB DDR 8X AGP, rather than a TD Nvidia GeForce FX 5700 with 128MB DDR 8X AGP?

My Radeon 9700 TX should be able to handle a resolution up to 1600 without any slowdown (I hope) since games with even better graphics than FF XI run smooth on higher reso's. Dunno if that proves anything though. Just wait one more week and I'll be able to see if I'm right!

It certainly does, but does anyone else who owns a Flat Panel notice serious ghosting in this game?

I know the nature of the LCD does ghost in some applications/games but this game seems more serious than others. I play Call Of Duty, BF1942 DC and Halo and don't notice it.

Also, I noticed that only the object in the foreground remains clear but the backgrounds ghost very badly.
