I'll check back after my beauty rest, maybe I'll be able to find out then. | 2560 and 1600, since you're almost certainly running a version of Windows that will let you just enter them in decimal to begin with.

the PrtScn key on a keyboard will take SS and place them in the SS folder for FFXI, but honestly those SS suck bad, alot of PC users use a screen shot program, I myself use FRAPS Gaming at its best, the good old 8-bit days | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-09-2008, 04:09 AM | #352 (permalink) | | Achiever Keeper of Knowledge Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Queens, NY Posts: 2,575 Style: Light - Version 4 My Mood: Thanks: 359 Thanked 215x in 128 Posts Gil: 1,825 Bank: 30,747 Total Gil: 32,572 Donate | Re: Enabled higher resolution on background textures. Which was really awesome and helped me understand background resolution (it's just the "real" resolution; not that complicated!), did confuse me in one respect.
It says, in regards to changing the background resolution via registry edits: | Quote: | | It is important to note, however, that the maximum value that can be used on either axis is 2048. | But the screenshots demonstrating the effects of increasing the background resolution on that same page clearly say that in one of them, the background resolution is 2560x2048. If the maximum on either axis is 2048, how did they get the X-axis to be rendered at 2560 pixels? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-30-2008, 07:36 AM | #355 (permalink) | | The dodo's conundrum Brain of Knowledge Join Date: May 2006 Posts: 1,532 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 110 Thanked 296x in 199 Posts Gil: 1 Bank: 32,041 Total Gil: 32,042 Donate | Re: Enabled higher resolution on background textures. I'm pretty sure the actual maximum is determined by your specific hardware (i.e., maximum render size supported by your graphics card). Ellipses on Fenrir There is no rush. Game looks amazing. Look to see I've never seen "maximum render size" listed on any specifications sheet for any video card. I've only seen what would be the equivalent of "maximum overlay graphics resolution" (in FFXI terms).
And I don't have FFXI right now, so I can't test it myself, but that seems like a roundabout way of trying to test this...
...Can anyone find any other source that explains any of this? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-30-2008, 08:28 AM | #359 (permalink) | | The S.E.E.S. Really, if you can't find any info from the manufacturer, you're just going to have to do some trial and error. If you want to max it out, you'd probably be best off going with a video card with plenty of RAM, although I'm sure Mhurron will be along shortly to explain why I'm wrong and stupid and evil. | Originally Posted by someone who just spent ten minutes with feba | | wtf? Unless you have a really horrible video card that is starved for RAM, you have a higher chance of pushing the limits of the monitor you're using to areas where it' just painful to use. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
