Odd size, I'm not sure I'd work but it would be 710 and 3F4.
Easy way to find the sizes you need to enter. Open calculator in windows, set it to scientific mode. Make sure "Dec" is selected, input the size you want, change to "Hex". | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-20-2007, 06:50 AM | #304 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Posts: 156 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 8 Thanked 3x in 3 Posts Gil: 1,086 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,086 Donate | Re: Enabled higher resolution on background textures. The following are types of VDU's. (Video Display Unit, aka Monitor)
CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) is the same as in TV's.
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) have Thin Film Transistors (aka TFT)
Plasma.
TFT monitors are common more expensive as CRT monitors. They use less electricity, and therefor produce less heat. They don't produce radiation(TCO99). They are smaller(thinner), and better for usage on small desks. Their low weight and size does make them more easy to steal. Con's of a TFT screen is their low light producement, and their relative low screen refreshing speed. Most users won't be bothered by it, but in an action game it's a con.
Plasma screens are very pretty, have a high light producement but are also very expensive. Plasma video is created by millions of small crystals in a film. By twisting slowly, they produce different colors with the light. Hey Amarok, tried doing 1600x1200 with 2048x2048? | I have tried it in the past (I run with an ATI 1800XT on a Dell 20" LCD which has native 1600x1200 res) and I found at that size the text panes started to get a bit too small.
Also I'm using a registered copy of Fraps to grab SS and take videos, and the latest version supports capturing realtime video at 1280x1020 because I have a dual core proc (normally the other proc is doing nothing during gameplay). So I find 1280x1024 is my favourite res to run, and is more than enough.
Saying that, if I get a moment I'll run it up at 1600x1200 to grab a few shots. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-18-2007, 06:24 PM | #308 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Posts: 96 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 1 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 2,161 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 2,161 Donate | Re: Enabled higher resolution on background textures. 1680x1050 would be 690 and 41A | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 07-28-2007, 01:32 AM | #312 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Posts: 1 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 115 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 115 Donate | Re: Enabled higher resolution on background textures. Game looks amazing. Look to see I tried doing this, game still looks the same. Do you have to choose a 2048x2048 option like you did with 1024x1024 in the FFXI Config? My video card supports 2048x1536 while 22" LCD Widescreen HDTV monitor only does 1680x1050. Aside from editting the registry, I never selected a 2048x2048 background resolution. FFXI Config doesn't list anything higher than 1024x1024 and I have my in-game ratio set to 16:9. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-05-2007, 11:36 PM | #313 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Posts: 26 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 591 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 591 Donate | Re: Enabled higher resolution on background textures. Game looks amazing. Look to see Btw, as much as I like AA on most other games, I would advise not having it on for FFXI. Yep stick the res up to max, textures to 2048 etc, Anisotrophic filtering to max, but leave AA to none. Also make sure you have "always wait for refresh" otherwise you get horrible tearing.
If you have AA on all the fonts on the text get clipped and make the font look like something out of startrek (horrible pointy A's etc). Its a personal choice of course, but try both settings at least, IMO AA isn't needed at high res on a game with a lot of text on screen. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-19-2007, 12:05 PM | #315 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Posts: 104 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 190 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 190 Donate | Re: Enabled higher resolution on background textures. Game looks amazing. Look to see Put the calculators down guys.. Just open the key you want to change in your registry, click the decimal button (you can choose to enter the value in decimal or hex) and enter whatever you needed. The system will just store it as hex for you and show you what the decimal value is of the stored hex value.
In other words, you don't need to convert anything. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
