I'm running 2048x2048 background resolution and a game resolution of 1920x1080 (on my 1080p Hi-Def TV). This absolutely looks STUNNING!! I've been playing FFXI since the NA release and never knew such clarity was possible.

The only modification I made was to remove the bottom part of the image cuz it had my character's name (I also did a /names to avoid clutter)

BTW, I just built a new PC which I'm using to play. This wouldn't be possible without my Nvidia GeForce 7950 GT.... this card rocks! (although it'll set you back about $350 or so).

I am just now able to do this. (Tried it in the past, it worked but ran fairly laggy, even in an empty spot of Valkurm.)

How do you think I should config FFXI ? Can I set all to the highest ?

Pretty much, my PC probably isnt half as good as urs lol and I can run it at 1280x1280 with everything on at max.

IS this normal if I have slowdowns, near Bastok's auction house for exemple ? Is it linked to the internet send/receive or my config ( I don't think so ).

Do alot of players still do this? Is it recommended if i want to play ffxi in a higher resolution? I just came back from the game, and setting the default graphics to the highest they have available isnt as good as when i used to play. i downloaded this registry thing i would put on my desktop and it would make the game look better back in the day, but i dont know if i should dl that anymore, so i figured this would be just as good, is it?

I just started playing again actually and did this before I even did anything. My PC specs, 2.4 C2D, 2 gigs, 8800 GTS. I set the game res @ 1600x1200 and background 2048x2048, as well as everything in my video panel to highest quality (16x Anisotropic Filtering/16xQ Antialiasing/ Force mipmaps Trilinear/ etc etc, except I kept Texture Filtering - Quality to High Performance to keep it running steady). I have to say, it is the best graphics I have ever seen for a MMO. No jaggies what-so-ever.

In my opinion, games are much more fun when the graphics aren't horrible. If your PC can handle the resolution to 2048 then do it, if not then do not bother, try something lower. It will- hog your system. IF you are lagging, your system can not handle it that high. If you have a good system then it is probably AF or AA being too high. I will post some pictures in a day or so with my computer to show how well it works for an update.

I have a Geforce 7900 GS 256mb. Can I use "2048 x 2048 = 800 and 800" ?

I'm not sure my monitor can show 2048 but think my Geforce can.

Step 1:go to your run command and type REGEDIT and click ok.

Step 2: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then click on software.

Step 3: Click PlayOnlineUS and Square Enix folder, then the FinalFantasyXI tab.

Step 4: You should see 2 files 003 and 004.

There is no 003 OR 004 file in my regedit.
I also got the EU version of the Game. Is there a new way to fix the resolution??
