I am currently playing this game on my PS2. I want to get PC version so I can type in Japanese. Also it's more portable
Neeky i have the PC and PS2 version of the game....and i have the option to type in japanese on my PC...but not in the game....the game software will not alow you to type in japanese....the only way you can type in japanese is by getting the actually Japanese version....doing this will also make all of your menus in japanese...so if you can read japanese then you are set and can import

I'm scared I'm not gonna be able to run UT2004 with my specs so I might have to buy a new graphics card right away (hell, I'm still a kid living with his parents and christmas is just around the corner! ^_^ Why waste money?!).
Download the UT2K4 demo and check it out firsthand

I've noticed that UT2K4 is less taxing on a system than FFXI, in most cases.

When I try to run the game at 1600x1200 the game doesn't go to fit the screen. In result I only see the top left portion of it. Please help.

If you run the game at, let's say 1280x1024, and then run the background at 2048x2048, it will super sample down, giving the apparent effect of anti-aliasing.

Let's say you run the game at 1024x768, and the background at 1024x1024. By setting the background to match your foreground (1024x768), you'll lose very little in quality (not a gain, like was suggested), but gain a decent chunk in performance.

EDIT: Updated the website URL, as we've moved.

Some please tell me how to do this? this is exactly what I'm looking for. With my weak-ass processor, 1024x768 bogs down a tad, I really think this would help.

EDIT: I went into regedit and changed it, but nothing new shows up in the Config menu, and it changes back when I go back into regedit??

ok.. so i have a ATI Raedon 9600+ 128MB with AMB Athlon XP 2800+.

I was thinking about setting my gfx to 1600x1600 and not the max of 2048x2048 since im not sure if my video card could handle it. Do you think i would be able to run 2048x2048 fine or should i stick with 1600x1600? Either way theyre both awsome.

Also, can you post 2 ingame pics of ffxi with 2048x2048 and 1600x1600 so i can see the comparison? thnx.

Re: Enabled higher resolution on background textures. Game looks amazing. Look to see how

I had a Radeon 9500 128mb and I could run 2048x2048 no problem.

I just recently got a Radeon X800 256mb and FFXI runs with everything on and 2048x2048 with at least 25FPS all the time. But I was wondering, can you make the graphics even better? Like a background resolution higher than 2048x2048? Or does it stop there?

Re: Enabled higher resolution on background textures. Game looks amazing. Look to see how

I am getting a new videocard and was wondering if it might work nicely at 2048x2048 with this setup.

Pentium 4 2.53Ghz
512MB RAM
GeForce 6800 128MB
