You don't want 1600 x 1200, but rather 1600 x 1600. And to answer the other question, it's the same answer that's been given a bunch of times. Just try it. What's the worst that happens? It runs too slow and you need to reduce a few settings. Each person's machine is going to be different and the only real test for how far you can tweak this is trial and error. Nevertheless, you have a pretty hefty system there it would appear so I would wager the answer to be yes at 1600x1600. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-10-2004, 10:54 AM | #197 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2004 Posts: 52 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 2,124 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 2,124 Donate | | Quote: | hmm interesting, though i have a question.
my pc is a:
p4 3.4 gig
1gig ram
ati 9800 pro 128mb
should i be able to run background 1600*1200 and the normal 1024*768 and still have some advance options enabled? | Try it out and see.
I runa P4 2.4
512MB RAM
ATI 9800Pro XT Flashed, and overclocked (450/390)
I can run the game with all the bells and whistles on/maxed, 1280x1024 foreground, 2048x2048 background. I prefer to lower my background to 1280x1024 though. The game runs smoother in high traffic areas that way. I'll take a little edge pixelization for that. | Quote: | | First of all, that background resolution should be squared. You don't want 1600 x 1200, but rather 1600 x 1600. | Incorrect. If you want an even anti-alaiasing affect, it should be the same ratio as your foreground (4:3). Going squared will given an uneven aliasing affect.
For the smoothest framerate, you want to match it to your foreground resolution. 1024x1024 doesn't look noticable better than 1024x768 if your foreground is 1024x768, but on my wife's GF4MX, it runs much smoother in terms of framerate. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-24-2004, 07:34 PM | #199 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 162 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 318 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 318 Donate | Well I ordered my Radeon X800 today, and I will test it to see if I get any hick ups in FPS ^^

I tried PM you but your mailbox is full so ... here I'll post:
You have the same video card as mine! ATI Radeon C7500, 32MB DDR correct? I do have a laptop (Dell's) and unfortunately I can't just upgrade my video card
But I am thinking about getting a PC version of this game and run it on my laptop. What do you think? How is the graphics and its performance on your laptop?
I am currently playing this game on my PS2. I want to get PC version so I can type in Japanese. Also it's more portable
Let me know your experience!
Thanks. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-26-2004, 06:56 PM | #201 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2003 Location: Alabama Posts: 243 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,165 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,165 Donate | P4 3.0 GHz

I play with 1280x1024 resolution and 1600x1200 background resolution. Mipmapping set at 5 with 16x AF, Bumpmapping, and all textures uncompressed.
Thanks for that link earlier, it helped out a bit. Also does the PC version support widescreen formats like the PS2 version? My widescreen TV has a max res of 1400x1080 | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-01-2004, 09:05 AM | #203 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 12 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 121 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 121 Donate | The Highest Resolution in the options menu should be what ever you display will support. For example my desktop's monitor had a max of 1600x1200 and that was the max resolution shown in the options. While my laptop has a max of 1280x800 and that is the max shown in the options. I would assume that if you use your TV you should be able to use the 1440x1080(assuming your video card supports that resolution which it probably does.) | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-04-2004, 08:23 AM | #204 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Posts: 122 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 380 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 380 Donate | Umm it says my REGEDIT has been disabled...i did get a trojan a while ago:dead: | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-04-2004, 03:27 PM | #205 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 119 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 3,104 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 3,104 Donate | this game has pretty funky engine. I've been messing with AA and AF. With 16X AF it doesn't affect performance much but in outdoors there is a lot less shimmering. your graphics card will be your bottleneck. if you don't go crazy and bump it too high, you should be ok. then again, you might not notice any difference since you can't push the higher resolutions. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-12-2004, 11:20 AM | #209 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Posts: 18 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 413 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 413 Donate | O.O do i know you neighbortaru? sorry if i dont reconize you. thanks for the info ^^ i'll try it tonight or tommorrow probably, right now I have to write a paper for my literature class... I'm not graphics junky, so as long as the game runs, lol. I'll have to invest in a new graphics card sometime in the future. I'm scared I'm not gonna be able to run UT2004 with my specs so I might have to buy a new graphics card right away (hell, I'm still a kid living with his parents and christmas is just around the corner! ^_^ Why waste money?!). --- | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
