Bad graphics in na version?

The graphics look as if I have low settings in the game but I have turned everything to max. :confused:

The graphics were much better in the japanese version, when I tried it a year ago.

StarvingArtist mentioned in a thread that there was a patch but I only get error pages when I try to download it. :sweat:

What can one do to get better graphics?

So, you've started the FF XI-configuration tool and set the background resolution as well as theoverlay graphics to 1024x768 and you don't notice a change?
