when i press play it work the whole screen turn black but all of a sudden it turn small again like the main part n said " terminted as error occured in final fantasy xi. fail to reconize hardware TNL.
please cheak that this computer has the required specifications to run final fantasy XL (-1)" that wat it say ...wat is the problem ................

Anyone have info on this? Myself and a friend of mine are having the same problem, is there any way to fix it?

says in the error message about your comps. specifications to run the game.

So why not list your PC specs and see if the game is even compatable.

The "failed to recognize Hardware TnL" error has been associated with needing a video card upgrade.

One thing I noticed is that when I try to open the FFXI config file, I just see a grey box with 3 buttons at the bottom, I don't see the other tabs and options like everyone else does, it's just a grey box.

Here are the specs for my computer:

1.5 pentium 4 processor
256 SDRAM memory
40.0 GB hard drive
nVidia TNT2 M64 vid card w/ 32 mb sdram
integrated sound

If you need any other computer info specs just let me know...tried reinstalling and I still see no options under the config, its still just a plain grey box.

Please post help asap

The TNT2-Video card was developed to match the requirements for Direct X 6. Since FF XI needs a Video card that supports at least Direct X 8.1, you need a better graphics card.

At the moment I'd recommend a NVidia GF TI 4200, a ATI Radeon 9600 Pro/ Non-pro, a NVIDIA GF FX 5600 or a ATI Radeon 9700 NON-Pro for your system. Avoid the Nvidia GF 5200 as well as the ATI Radeon 9000, they are not up-to-date any more.
