Game locking up and Freezing
Ok this is really pissing me off it has done this 4 times now after playing for about 5 to 7 hours. I have recently upgraded my computer in preparation for this game. The game had never done that with my computer before upgrades on my/zoey's account on import ver. Old specs were;

Pentium III 1 GHz
512 SDRAM
nVidia GeForce4 TI 4200 PNY Verto Ti4200 128MB AGP Graphics card

New specs are;
AMD Thunderbird XP 2200GHz @ 1.80 GHz
512 DDRAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB AGP Graphics Card

Things should be running smother and better right? I mean that damn video card cost me 400 bucks alone. When i first started playing i set the ffxi configuration for best resolution and the mapping thing thinking the viedo card could hadle that alone. ut one the computer froze up and did nothing then i thought well maybe that was a little extreme. So i put everything on default which is the lowest graphic settings, and it crashed on me 3 more times. I am thinking it is the video card over heating or something, i rather return that and put my geforce4 back in what you guys think.. please reponse if you nkow anything about this type of stuff, and help me ...Before i return a video which is suppose to be the badest mofo out there.

Game work perfect with old specs well at least the import ver did. I didn't put the NA ver on, until after the the upgrades. Even if it was the processer it is almost 3 times fast than the minimum requirements, just about every computer is about eitehr pentium or AMD. Damn if it is the the processer that means i would have to return it pay extra for pentium and all my programs would have to be reinstalled seeing how my hard drive wouldn't recognize and new mother board. Which also mean i would have to reinstall xp after i save just my documents to another hard drive then put them back on and install all my programs again.:mad: And if your thinking why don't i transfer all my data after xp is put back on that wouldn't work because all my programs would still be there taking up space and all, but the registry wouldn't have then in there, because of the new mother board with must come with a new processer. I think in the morning tomarrow i am just going to put my geforce4 back in and see what happens before any drastic moves are made, this computer is not to shabby i mean it's not the best by any means but it should be great to excellent for gaming.

It's very strange... You have a good computer that should run the game absolutely perfect! Well, try to switch graphiccards...

Btw, what's your benchmark score?

In case you have a Mainboard with a VIA KT333, KT400 or KT600 chipset, it's the Memory interface on that crappy chipset.

2 possibilities:

1. Change Mainboard to a NForce 2-Board as I did and enjoy after the new installation of XP and everything that belongs to it. (What I did)

2. Enter your BIOS, go to advanced Chipset settings, find the RAM-Timings. Set from "by SPD" to "Manual" Slow down you RAM. IN case you have 400 Mhz, switch to 333, if 333, choose 266. Try if it works. If it doesn't, continue with latency-settings, choose 3-3-3-8 or slower (meaning: higher latency numbers)

I hope I could help,

As unlikly as it sounds, it could be your sound card. If you are relying on an onboard sound device, say on the Nforce2 or 3 boards your game will crash. I had a similar problem when I played Star Wars Galaxies. It was only fixed after I put in my sound blaster audigy again, and disabled the onboard sound.

Yeah I had the exact same problem as LoneWolfy.
I have a AMD processor and Radeon 9800 pro too.

I don't think its the sound card problem because I disable the card, but the game still crashes on occasion.

Lonewolfy, do you have network router? I think that might be the problem.
