Uninstall Corrupted Windows XP Pro
I took a POL Error 1155 while applying the update. After I took it again I exited FFXI. When I tried to start FFXI I received a message that a previous update of FFXI had failed and to reinstall FFXI. I uninstalled FFXI. The uninstaller got to the 'remove common files' part and started listing files. My choices were 'yes to all', 'yes', 'no', and 'cancel'. Stupidly (and tiredly) I hit 'yes to all'. Windows locked up. I hard-booted and was treated to a 'hal.dll is missing or corrupt' message. I have attempted to repair Windows XP (which I HATE doing) to no avail. I replaced hal.dll and got a message that ntoskrnl.exe is missing. Aw crap! Replaced that and am now totally hosed. XP is telling me to contact my support person. I am now faced with reinstalling XP. I am tremendously upset. Even though I should not have said 'yes to all' on common files IN NO WAY SHOULD THE UNINSTALLER HAVE MESSED WITH THE SYSTEM32 DIRECTORY!!! I have contacted SE via email but don't expect much.

Here's hoping you all have better luck...
