sick and tired of this GF4 MX440...
Hello

I am planning to change my GFX card to something better, because everytime i pass by the AH at sandoria (and other places that are crowded), FFXI lags like hell. So, my question is, what GFX card should i buy(chipset, manufacturer etc)? I browsed through the internet for some reviews and tests of cards, but that only made me dizzy. I suppose i could buy a GF4 Ti4200, but as ive heard, there are big differences between the manufacturers. I currently possess 2500SEK (about 300USD).

First of all what are your other pc specs cause I don't think its your gfx card. the minimum is supposed to be a 32 MB card

What the ^@$% are you doing!?

The minimum requirements are there to tell you what you need to START the game. a 32mb card would lag like hell.

Anyways, my system specs are: XP 1700+, 256mb ddr ram...oh, and i have a black midi tower...

If you do get another GFXcard, go for GeForce4 TI series.

Preferably GeF4 Ti 4200/4400/4600 series.

The minimum RAM these come with is 64MB, so one of these cards will be good.

The only Non-GF card I could recommend is the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, but this will run more than US$ 300

or Radeon 9500 pro...

but regarding to your lag in front of AH, it is not a big problem. This is because the connection need to recieve to many data which cause the connection being lag. I also face this problem for some time even thought i using 9700 pro with T1 connection.
