Starting up FFXI?? - Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel :: Community

Ok, I have POL set up and I'm logged in an stuff. I'm working my way to getting closer to playing. However, I'm stuck again. I'm trying to install/start FFXI. I'm at the screen that looks like this:

From the main-page screen, the 4th selection down should be "install," but it isn't. The writing is different, and it brings me somewhere that i don't see in the screen shots on the main page. I tried to "print screen" so I could show you where the 4th button brought me, but it didn't seem to work. I've tried every single selection on this screen, and nothing seems to be the right one to install FFXI.

If someone could (again) help me out with this, I'd appreciate it.

Press the new user button and fill in the details.

Ok, I've filled in what I need I think. Instead of "new user" it says my name. The install button still doesn't work right though...is there something im missing?

When I click on my user name "Marc Wander", this menu comes up...I have no idea what this is:

You don't have to do "install" again (btw that's "member registration", not install). Since you have already done that, go to where you last screenshot is.

The menu there are:
1. login
2. connection settings
3. change settings
4. delete registration
5. back

Assuming you have setup your internet conection, just select login.

Ok, thanks!! I got it to work! However, when I got to the FFXI menu, I click on the first option, and it displayed this message:

What does this mean? and how do I actually get the game started?

Hehe, that's just a warning from Square not to get too addicted to the game. And that your family and friends, school, and work are much more important. You will see this message everytime you start game.

Just click on the "play" button underneath to play.

You need to purchase a contents ID before you play, I think thats a rough translation.

You haven't filled in your FFXI contents ID yet.

Under that menu screen that you just posted, the last option is "contents ID". Get your credit card and the FFXI content password (included with your package) ready. You will be going through the ID purchasing process.

thanks, I finally got to play FFXI today, as bebetaro knows ^_^. It turns out that some of the steps for the PS2 version are cut out in the PC version...that is why I was so lost when trying to follow the main page's screen shots.

Anyways, thanks for the walkthrough in the setup.

Have you already set up POL, and you are in the FFXI area? If so, then the ID you use is the second ID listed on the sheet, not the first. You'll find the 3 ID's on the sheet of paper that came along with the game.

First ID is the POL ID, second ID is the one you enter in when you are setting up FFXI, and I have no idea what the third ID does

so when you first log in, i have to type in what in the login page. I know my Pol Login but what with the secound login? what my password?

I'm not exactly sure what problem you are running into, but look at this site's main page at step 42 for installing/setup of POL. You should have written down your POL ID and password. You will need this password to log on and play FFXI.

There is only one login, not two, and only one password you'll need. When you are first setting up POL/FFXI you will need to enter in two ID's...one for the POL setup, and the other for the FFXI setup. Once those two ID's are entered in, you will never have to worry about that again.

I'm not sure if that answers your question. Hopefully it helped
