Good sound card for FFXI PC?

Hello,

I am currently using the Soundstorm chip on my nVidia nforce2 motherboard with FFXI PC (JP version). I notice that my BGM got dropped very often when switching between tracks. I am using DirectX 8.1 on Win2k SP4.

I am suspecting a combination of problems from nVidia driver and FFXI itself, as the problem has also been reported on non-nforce2 platform.

I am curious if anyone uses a sound card that has good compatibility and quality (give compatibility priority) with FFXI? If so, can you list your brand and model for my reference please? Thanks.
