Will I be able to use my import char on the us version?
Is there any way that I will be able to transfer my character from the japanese pc version of ffxi to the us pc version when it comes out?

I don't see why not. However I have a STRONG belief that the clients (both PC and PS2) are bilingual and will switch the language to match the account region. I mean if you try to play in NA sioftware with a japanese account you will get POL and FFXI in japanese.

maybe wrong
ACTUALLY. i don't believe thats true. first off think about file size...even though it would only be type. thats a lot of text...its alot of reprogramming. i mean...come on. when .hack came to america we got Japense voice or English voice. you know what they threw out? Funny voice. which was like new dialog that was funny that you could play with at the end.

truth is i read in one of their interviews though that they believe that they will make it work both ways *JP accound on NA game* BUT that instead of it being in their native language it would be in the games language. *thus a JP person with a JP account won't have JP language on a NA game.* THUS WE ARE ALL SAVED. that is if you can't read japanese and wish to play the English version. i want to just because the story line has way to complicated kanji/vocabulary/grammer/everything for me to read or even my girlfriend to read. so my beliefes are that it does not make sense for user accounts to not be interchangeable. but i do believe it will stay the language of the version of the game.

This is almost all speculation and i cannot remember the site i got my info from. SO i might be wrong. and if i am please i am greatfully sorry. i do not recommend reserving the NA game if you have JP game in hopes that you will be able to play it. because if you can't you'll probably be very upset and about 80 bucks poorer. what i recomend is find a friend that wants the game. have them get the NA version. then when you can try to log onto their version of the game with your JP account as a guest. (this is possible) when you do it. if it works. and everything turns into english. let god bless us all for we have been saved...because you do not need the CD's of the game to play it. Thus we can just have both JP game and EN game on our computer!! no i am not in support of coppying games. the real thing you buy for around 80 bucks is the nice little peice of paper that lets you pay for a new account (aka your codes!) but i will NOT buy a new game JUST for it to be in english. i pay 12 something dollars a month and i refuse to be scrwed over any more. because it doesn't take around...oh...lets see 600,000 people are registered in japan...take that and just times it by 10 bucks...oh wait...6MILLION DOLLARS TO RUN SERVERS!? thats ONE MONTH. 6million dolalrs a month.

Well anyways. yes they will be interchangable. as far as we know that is. if i'm wrong please tell me now

(sorry for ranting there for a second...)

This will surely prove my point .... :D

I got that from RAR for DOS on a command prompt window.
Since my PC is set for japanese programs when non unicode, DOS console behave as a japanese DOS/V system.
So you get japanese text shown properly.

I am sure this PROVES my point.

The given file is the menu structures database and can be found at
c:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SQUARE\FINAL FANTASY XI\ROM\0\1.DAT

I hope Square don't get angry with me for figuring that out before NA retail release.

holy poo
that dosn't look good....>.<. but maybe theirs a conspiracy...maybe. but if the code lays there for both of them...theirs probably a way to get it so yours will be in english O.O. well we will just see..

time will tell this one

oh. their is one thing...if this is always been true...why did it take so long to get NA out? and you can say "oh...it was testing the want for the game" but no that dosn't make sense. it just doesn't add up. what you found is something else. something mysterious...O.o i don't know what to tell you. unless all these maitentence have been lies and they are really installing the languges into us O.O WE HAVE ALL BEEN DECIEVED! *hides in parnoia*

Actually Square stated since the beggining that the game was supposed to be played by people talking both english and japanese. And they also said the english version of the game was developed since the beggining at same time the japanese version. I think the reason for all this was a trick from Sony gain control over Squaresoft assets delaying the NA release of the HDD and dificulting the sales of the japanese HDDs. This resulted in a late development of the MS Windows version in a attempt to escape from the dependency on Sony hardware. Too bad Square was still having financial problems due to the FF movie fiasco.

That means this unique market situation made the NA release delay a whole year even thought it was ready since the beggining.

This is a supposition and should NOT be taken seriously.
