I got to the part where it gave me my account, but then the screen went blank. How do i get my account back? Do I have to pay for something I don't even use?!:mad:

? what do you mean by "lost account" exactly?
If its your pol pass and name then you can get those back by giving them your name and address.

Well, I was using Osaka's faq and I got to the point where it gave me my playonline ID and password. I know Osaka said that was important, but when I tried to maximize the setup again after using his faq, it didn't load. Nobody's been able to help me so far so I'm really worried. I copied and pasted the name and address, and I still know where to get it, but I don't know how to contact them. And if a bunch of other people used that same name and address then how would they be able to help me?

It happened while you was creating the POL account ?
After the POL account was created, it will ask the
Playonline ID (" ƒvƒŒƒBƒIƒ“ƒ‰ƒ“ID ") and
Playoinline password (" ƒvƒŒƒBƒIƒ“ƒ‰ƒ“ƒpƒXƒ??[ƒh ")

They look like this :

Playonline ID > XXXXXXXX (8, Having letters and numbers all in uppercase)

Playonline password > ******** (8, having mixed numbers and letters in upper/lowercase)

For example my POL ID looks like this

AAAA0000 < four letters then four numbers

My password is a mixed bunch of numbers and letters in both upper and lower case ...

After you got the ID and passord in hand, check the pictures with the translated POL menus. You have to create a profile in your local copy of the POL Viewer. That is done by clicking
the 4th button on the POL screen, which will take you to the following screen :

Type in what is asked (translation on the picture)
And you will have the new connection profile with the POL account you just made ...

Don't panic ! You didn't made any mistake. It just require you to create a connection profile after creating the account, if you press cancel when it ask for login at the 1st time.

Edit: You wont be charged for anything until the time you buy an contents ID. FFXI basic contents ID (Access to the game + a character slot) cost 1290 yen (arround 10 USD) montly.
Each extra character slot is 100 yen (arround 80 cents)
And the expansion is also 100 yen

You just gave me a bit of hope, but I still have some questions. I wish there was a way to get in touch more quickly. do you have AIM? I don't know if i really made sense when I asked my questions so let me just try to get things straight. When I had gotten to the part where it gave me the ID and password, I minimized the setup to see what I needed to do next. After finding out that i needed to record this information, I tried to maximize the setup again, but it wouldn't load. This is the part in Osaka's faq I got to.

This is the MOST IMPORTANT screen throughtout the entire setup. The following information IS case sensitive. Here is your:

PLAYONLINE ID:: WRITE THIS DOWN Accurately.

PLAYONLINE PASSWORD:: WRITE THIS DOWN Accurately

PLAYONLINE E-MAIL ADDRESS:: WRITE THIS DOWN Accurately

PLAYONLINE E-MAIL PASSWORD:: WRITE THIS DOWN Accurately

I never recorded any of these, but for some reason, whenever I click on the playonline logo on my desktop it brings me to another page. It won't let me access the setup anymore. the page has a bunch of options on the left and on the right it's got one line with some Japanese letters. If this playonline stuff isn't as important as I thought, then I guess I'm okay. I just need a guide on what to do next. And if it really isn't important, then what is it for?

That information is your access to the POL account.
Not writting them down means you lost the access to the account and could not seup POL for playing.
It's a "dead" account.
But fortunately you won't be charged in your credit card, as you didn't bought anything.
Still you lost your POL key (the key which is required to create a account.) as it is single use.
