ffxi and AOL dial-up?

i live in japan but i'm going to be in america for awhile. i brought my ps2 to play ffxi. i went and bought an american network adapter since my dad only has dial-up. i can't set aol up through the bb unit itself since i have the japanese version installed which doesn't allow for dial-up. and i can't install the american one because i don't have a modchip (and even if i did i think i'd have to format the drive first...).

does anyone know or use aol dial-up to play either the import or beta? i entered the account id (tried with and without @aol.com), password, and local phone number. it connects but says there is a problem loggin in.

any ideas? i think i should just call aol...:confused:

AOL wont help they suck when it comes to problems my aunt has it and hates it they made me disconect my phoneline and reconect because they mesed up my phone acount.

And try going though the network setup disk it came with u should only need the number u call and password thats the only thing i could thing of good luck

You won't be able to use AOL, even if you enter your username and pass into the PS2 setup.

you really think so Mithrankitty? that's lametacular. do you know any dial-up that's not as shitty as aol? what would i be able to use. my dad says he'll switch if i do it for him... only dial-up though.
