I don't see anything wrong with what the OP did. Seriously. You guys have a million places to exp at, stop whining. Plus, it's only crawlers. No one should level off of crawlers at that level since (a) Slow decreases your exp rate and increases chances of not even surviving one fight (b) poison will kill you if you're not stocked up on antidotes and (c) coccoon totally stops you dead in your tracks.

I'd rather chain birds and rabbits and then at level 7, move on to TC rather than trying to ep chain on crawlers and bees at level 12 in the starting areas...

Well, it's already been long since established that he wasn't really doing anything wrong. That said, I disagree with you in regard to there being "a million" other places to exp at that level. Also at the notion that low level players shouldn't be fighting Crawlers. They give exp, drop quest items, and drop silk which sells very well on the AH. That's reason enough for me to exp on them as early as I can.

In any case, I'll agree with the consensus in saying that he did nothing wrong. Yes, it may be an exp spot, big whoop!

Everyone has a role to play in a certain area:

1. Parties kill mobs to gain experience points
2. Beastmasters charm and kill mobs to gain experience points.
3. People farm to make money.

There is no specific rule that says "This place is reserved for experience parties only!", so if people have a problem with what I'm doing, they can go **** themselves. Mobs will always respawn quick enough so that there's plenty for experience parties and farmers alike, so it's no big deal.

Agreed...to a certain point. I have no problem with people farming in newbie zones. What I do have a problem with is people who train farm in newbie zones, because nothing is going to respawn until they kill the train. If they were just single killing and moving on to the next, that's another story, but if they are running through the zone with every crawler on them, then that means that there aren't any other crawlers out there for people to kill for any reason. That's inconsiderate.

Disagree with this point entirely. Some camps and farming areas will not respawn mobs fast enough for more than one exp camp or farmer. In more popular areas it's even worse. Haven't you ever been in a party where minutes would go by between fights because the puller can't find anything to pull?

The LS I'm in is VERY close knit. All but one is a 360 user tho, so we are relatively in the same stages of the game. But any of us will drop whatever we are doing when someone needs help. We all picked different crafts to compliment each other, making it easier to find stuff instead of always buying off the AH. My mail outbox is almost always full...as is my inbox! A few days ago I ran to the penninsula to help another member collect his subjob items. This weekend we are going to do The Three Kingdoms mission...will be the 3rd or 4th time I've killed the dragon already!! And I highly doubt it will be the last.

Really makes playing the game that much more easier, and a lot more fun.

I run most on my subjobs over to that area initially killing rabits birds and bee's and then move up to crawlers once they con decient prey (Some of the birdmen insist on being prey also though :+D ). I pick up Selbina Milk from the vendor for Valkurin either in Sandy or bastok. I believe it's available from a vendor in Selbina also. I level till 10 then off the the dunes to get higher or swap to another 1st level job. The selbina milk makes the poison cheaply survivable since it's hp regen = crawlers poison and occasionally helps in a close fight when a yagado pops near me.
A question regarding train farming. I've heard the drop per mob goes down as opposed to the drops for individually killing them, does anyone know if it is true?
As for if someone is chaining all the crawlers I just groan, grab one off the train, and move to the other crawler zone nearby.

Aye, I will agree with this point. Training in exp zones is very inconsiderate and is something I would never do, but killing from mob to mob does not seem like an inconsiderate thing to do.

Ok, I should have been more specific with directing this. It all depends on the area. The large, outside areas, such as Valkrum Dunes, Yhoatar Jungle, etc., there's a plethora of mobs to choose from and there should never be a serious problem of finding a mob to pull; therefore, it would be less considerate for people to farm there.

Yeah, having friends to play with really makes a difference. My friend's list is barren at the moment (all my friends have quit, and I'm on a new server). One day I'll have some though, I'm sure of it.

I don't have any data to back this up, but from my own experiences it certainly seems to be true. It may also just be perception; because you kill a lot of mobs in quick succession, you notice it more if none of them drop anything, whereas if you kill them more slowly one at a time you don't track the drop rate as closely.

However, a stack of Roasted Carp goes for 17000, and a stack of Fire is only 4000.

O_o That ... makes no sense ... The only explanation I can offer is that maybe Roast Carp was the Veteran level guild point item on the day you checked. Prices on items tend to shoot up unreasonably when that happens. If there was a large number sold around the 20th, but then nothing after midnight JST on the 21st, that's probably what happened. Other than as a guild item, Roast Carp is an all but useless food, so ... I don't know why anyone would pay that price for it.

If for some reason there's a steady demand for them, you can save yourself some time and buy them for ~6k a stack from this guy so long as San d'Oria is in 1st or 2nd place in conquest. Hmm ... in fact I bet they aren't right now on Ramuh and that explains the run on the AH.

Not that I'm trying to discredit you or anything, but I've been cooking and fishing for a long time and a profit on that item just doesn't make any sense to me. Something, forgive the pun, smells fishy, and I would look into it more if I were you to make sure you don't get screwed.

I see it that way. I thinking training is very selfish, its up there with seeing someone actively try to engage a normal mob and then someone range attacking it out from under them despite the clear intention and weapons drawn. In the second situation though, its not as easy to tell, and with NM's is fair game. Training however, god I loathe it.

hmm....I might just check that out tonight after the bball game is over. Quite a long ride, but if it sells should definitely be worth it.
