Also server econimies come into play, some servers have surplus gil and its easy to get larger amounts.

Isn't it a little precocious to assume he buys gil just cuz he has a few 100million gil?

Making money isn't as hard for some as it is for others, and some people are great at it. I've seen people with several slave jobs that have attained capped crafts at 100. Also, some people have made money on investments. When an item can bounce up or down 20m or so at any given time because of how rare it is, theres profit to be made.

Assuming people buy gil and placing judgement on them because of jealousy is a little weak. Now if they show signs of inadequacy in the way they play the game, then i could understand. The screenshot hardly tells a story.
(i'm curious why he's not equipping marksmanship but thats beside the point)

Didn't the guy say it was his gil and that he actually farmed all of it?

And I have Bonecrafting glasses, but I make more money farming and camping NMs then using my craft. So it would be easy for him to power lvl GS to 48 *just* for the glasses if he was able to farm that much cash. Now if he had a signed SH+1 or something *then* you couldn't claim he crafts for gil, but GP items are easy to get if you're smart. And until stated otherwise I'm gonna go with the 'know where to farm' reason.

very true. some friends of mine can make money pretty easily, while me on the other hand just do enough to get by. i dont craft, i dont bcnm often, just some how i find a way to obtain what i need and play my jobs properly.

and seriously... buying almost 400 mil, or say even 100 mil is a little far fetched.
