While wandering through Windurst, I saw someone with a rather interesting linkpearl icon. I check them, they don't have a linkshell... I asked LS, /shouted, asked friends on other servers, no one had even heard of something like it before. Has anyone ever seen someone with this, or know what it means?

Sorry for the quality, clipper was off at the time.

EDIT: It's the same person in both shots.

Saw them alot after NA release or just before, cant remember but it was around that time.

That icon means Trial Adventurer, or something along those lines. Basically it's someone who wants/needs to play the game to see what it's like (for the sake of media or whatever) and SE have given them a trial account with a mid or high level character to play around with for a while.

Interestingly enough, the icon they get is the same icon that you have you have on your car if you're a learner driver in Japan.

That icon is designated for "Trial Adventurers."

That could either mean someone trying out the game in an officially-sponsored program, or characters granted to the press for easy coverage on the game.

For example, IGN recently covered new additions to Chains of Promathia, and in their screenshots, their characters had the "Trial Adventurer" icon abover their head.

If you mean Internet Cafe, then I think you're wrong. I played FFXI at a few net cafes when I was in Japan and you just log in with your POL account and go. You don't get that status or anything.

thats pretty odd, never seen it at first I thought it was just a green linkpearl cuz of the blurriness lol
