Thanked 14x in 13 Posts Gil: 3,452 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 3,452 Donate  | Prime Avatar Garuda Fight (56K Warning) Well, its been a long time in the making, but myself and a few of the other Solaris members and some of the SilentCrusaders embarked on a quest to defeat the Prime Avatar of Wind: Garuda.
The elemental creature lay dormant inside a protocrystal hidden deep within Cape Terrigan in the Cloister of Winds. 
One by one, we each enter the Protocrystal and the entity inside. 
I draw closer to the giant glowing crystal and feel the artifact resonating. 
Without warning, we are pulled into the Protocrystal and into another dimension. 
In the middle of this void lay an island of rock, swirling with clouds and alien energy. 
There... encased in the crystal, Garuda lay sleeping for eons... 
She would slumber no longer! 
The ground at our feet began to swirl with fierce winds and the ground trembled. 
Then before us, emerging from a pillar or light, the Prime Avatar Garuda herself! 
With claws bared, she challenged us to come forward and face her fury.   "In my travels, I have seen the city in the sky and trembled in awe.

Surveying the surroundings, the team prepares for a fierce battle. 
Garuda is engaged in fierce combat, silencing me with the cold kiss of death. 
Though many of us fell, the Prime Avatar is bested. She sees we are worthy. 
Satisfied with our strength, she returns to the womb of her Protocrystal. 
Garuda muses over her slumber. Is reality a great dream of one greater? 
With one last parting word, she entrusts us with her power. 
Free of the void, we tend to the fallen. An elemental whisper is obtained.  "In my travels, I have seen the city in the sky and trembled in awe.

A strange doll-like entity appears and speaks in cryptic words.... 
Then suddenly, I found myself before the crystal in the void of Garuda's Lair. 
I am drawn closer to the swirling nexus of Garuda's crysallis. 
There I encounter the strange speaking doll again... 
He tells me of a great power... and offers me a choice...

Drawing forth from the elemental power granted to me, I open a gateway. 
Free from her constrains, Garuda emerges at my command as my emissary.

Arliman 62RDM/30BLM, Ersou 62PLD/31WAR, Eon 61DRG/30WAR, Neximus 62DRK/30SAM, Lennie 60WHM/30BLM, Liwei 68WHM/34BLM
An incredibly tough fight, but we managed to defeat her without a dedicated BLM and 5/6 members well below 65. I chainspelled and nuked Blizz II on her, then converted, hoping stoneskin would keep me safe in time to throw a second Cure IV onto myself after another volley of nukes. Sadly, she ignored the PLDs Invincible and tore stoneskin off like tissue paper and killed me in 2 hits. The DRK fell after Meditation>Guillotine x 3. There was no pulling hate from him after that one, but it was a desperate fight.
All in all we were very, very lucky to defeat her with only 3 caualties (one of the WHM Reraised). I highly recommend avoiding this fight until you have a solid team of 65s. Then she's pretty much a cakewalk, just keep Baraera and Shell IV up at ALL times. "In my travels, I have seen the city in the sky and trembled in awe.

I'm stuck with a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 PCI right now  I'm thankful to have it since it lets me play. But I really want a better card. My graphics look sorta blocky, and slighty like a PS1. Strangely though in pictures my graphics look like 10 times better. I thought only the summoner could summon the Avatars!?
but you ( as a redmage) is summoning as well.. and the others from your party too......i don´t get it!
