It would probably load a lot quicker if you saved them as JPEGs instead of bitmaps.
OMFG why didn't I think of this before?!?!? I have now changed all of the pictures into JPEG format, making them a LOT smaller and making the load time a LOT less. Some of the pics also look better now due to some contrast I used in Photoshop (brighter). Take another look. Thanks a bunch Kyrial!

So how helpful is this ring?
Not very. It simply amplifies each races latent characteristics. Like, for instance, the San D'orian Ring gives a bonus to STR and VIT (I believe? ), which Elvaan already have a slight advantage in. Tarus would get a boost to their INT and MND (again, I think, not positive on the exact stat boosts). It is definately not worth you not choosing the the city you would like to be a citizen of. I think. :p

PS - Oh, I almost forgot: today's pictures. These are from a quest. I won't say which for our friends who don't have the game yet, but they are potential spoilers.

Tomorrow will be an all scenery day. Stay tuned. :spin:

Ya, they do for sure. Thanks again Kyrial.

I changed some of the previous ones, mostly with lighting (dark ones are brighter). The first pic is also a different larger one. Better than the previous I think. :p

Well, here are today's pics. All scenery as I said yesterday.

Not many people do. :p

You need to if you want to get all the monuments for the Selbina Clay quest. To get there, you have to go into the Dangruf Wadi (South Western corner of South Gustaberg). Once there, get as far North East as you can. A geyzer should take you upto a hidden area that leads to the waterfall. It's not shown on the map.

I wouldn't suggest anyone lower than 25 going, unless you have the time to be very cautious and/or have Invisible/Sneak. The path is littered with Goblin Leechers and Gamblers, and Pugils to ruin your plans if you use just Invisible.

Thanks.

I strive to get nice looking scenery pics. When your playing the game you don't seem to appreciate the amazing work that was put into the backgrounds/scenery, let alone the characters, mobs, gameplay, effects, etc. I just take a pic of anything that catches my eye. The waterfall for example was a great place for screens. It's a beautiful place to visit.

More to come tomorrow, as I won't be home tonight. Staying downtown to drink for St. Paddy's day.

I'll try and get a DRK in AF gear and higher level gear (like the Samurai) for you. I love DRK's too.

DRK/THF is what I am gonna be, and it is a very viable combo. A lot more DRKs these days are realizing this, and it is becoming more common. The Thief, in my opinion, compliments the DRK's abilities very nicely.

To begin with, it gives you stat boosts in DEX and AGI, which a DRK is lacking in. DEX is EXTREMELY important to a DRK however, as they carry the biggest and heaviest hitting weapons in the game (Great Swords, Scythes, etc), but these weapons are extremely slow (very long cooldowns). The DRK relies on it's melee strength to deal constant heavy damage. But if you miss a hit, you have a very long time to wait for the next attack and a lot of damage has been wasted. When in parties fighting Incredibly Tough mobs, missing is very common, so you want to hit as often as possible. This is what DEX does. It is the attribute directly affecting your hit chance percentage (higher DEX means a lower chance your melee attacks will miss). Thus, a THF subjob can never hurt in the melee category.

Also, DRKs are purely damage dealers. They are there to pummel the hell out of mobs, much like a BLM. THF is the most damaging basic job, with it's Sneak Attack and Trick Attack job abilities. These only highten the DRK's damage output. Granted, there are not many Scythe Weapon Skills which stack with Sneak Attack, but it's not absolutely necessary. SA will still output a lot more damage every minute then a regular attack.

The ONLY thing I see that THF lacks in is that it doesn't boost your magic skill in any way. If you want to exploit the little black magic a DRK gets as much as possible, then pick a mage as your sub.

So all in all, THF is a great choice for a sub for DRK. But it's not the ONLY choice. FFXI is about discovery, and messing around with the jobs. People are always saying that some combos are crap, but a dedicated player who doesn't want a "cookie cutter" job can make ANY combo work. Yes, even a Galka WHM/BLM. Some veterans do create "less effective" combos as a means to make the game more challenging. I personally am starting with the best combo which appeals to me, which is DRK/THF.

Good luck in the future. Hope I helped.

PS - Oh yeah, don't forget that THF's get Treasure Hunter and Gil Finder, and that NEVER hurts.
