Over the past few weeks I've been having an odd glitch coming up while playing and I was hoping someone here could help me diagnose it. For reference, I am playing on a PC.

Every so often, maybe once or twice a week, my character will start running in circles. There is no indication as to why, but it suddenly starts running, usually to the right, without me giving any input to the keyboard.

Actually using the keys gives me a limited degree of control, but not enough to guide the character to a given location. So far the only fix I've found is to hit the /heal key to force them to stop moving and subsequently shut down.

Tonight it came up again and I checked something. Logging out doesn't fix the error, as I logged out and logged back in only to start running in circles again.

My first suspicion was that something had gone wrong with my keyboard, but this sort of input trouble doesn't come up in anything else I do on the PC, though that might be from lack of time logged on stuff that was FFXI while on the desktop. However, in the middle of the error shutting down the client seems to fix it as immediately booting the FFXI client back up results in a return to normal controls. This makes me think there's something going on with the FFXI client rather than my keyboard going haywire.

Has anyone experienced anything like this or know what this might be an indication of?
Is there a fix, or should I just re-install the game and see if that fixes things?

Happened to me all the time.

If you're going right, try to hit the key you use to go right a couple times.

Usually fixed my problems.

I used to get that on my PC as well. I always thought it was me accidentally clicking one of the "extra" buttons on my mouse as hitting all the buttons on my mouse randomly always fixed it for me.

Can you turn via mouse? I used to have a problem with spinning, due to my mouse glitching...

I hadn't thought of it being a mouse glitch since I play entirely using the keyboard, but I'll fiddle with that next time it happens and see if that helps.

The few times I have had this happen it's a mouse thing. Pretty sure it was something like I clicked a mouse button as I alt-tabbed in or out of the game and somehow that caused the game to consider the mouse button held down.

Wasn't this a windower problem? If you had something else on top instead of the game it would do shit like this?

It's just that my optical mouse occasionally glitches and goes zipping off to one corner of the screen. I lift it, put it back down, and all is well for me.

Well it's not Windower seeing as how I've never used that. The only other thing I have running is Winamp in the background for some music while I play the game in fullscreen mode.
