First i'd like to say I found this website on a engine search and saw another guy talkin about how he had his account stolen but some things were not clear..

This is my story.
11:24 AM EST im in qufim island killing acrophobies as my 36 samurai and BAM i automatically get an error
"User Terminated because ive been logged in from another place" I said to myself oh god I known so many people that this has happen'd to.
So I login and I kept getting kicked off..Eventually started my POL an I even had a security question ( 2 passwords ) but the main one is now changed...I couldnt even change my password in time...AND How am I supposed to let SE know at this very moment..They should fucken work saturdays those lazy fucken assholes...they make so much money and they do nothing..
This is the first time my acct got stolen...
What Can be done? Can I get my account back? WITH all my gear? I had alot of gear that took YEARS to get and i'll be damed if they dont give me my acct back with my gear..
So what will happen..please tell me because I am really pissed.
Can I prove old payments on a credit card?Or they just wont give a shit because all the info was changed and now im fucked?

SE has come a long way in the customer service department. They're still a little sketchy, but most likely they'll be able to return your account. I think they'll do a rollback if necessary, but I'm not sure if I'm confusing that with another game.

You'll need to call them first thing on Monday, and have all of your information ready, your POL user ID, name, birthdate, and possibly registration codes or credit card number on the account (as much as you can provide, the easier it is to prove that it's you) and as long as it's your first time, which it sounds like, you should get rolled back.

In the meantime, you should reformat your computer before you even consider playing FFXI again, or you're basically just asking to get hacked a second time. I know that sucks a whole lot, especially considering you'll have to reinstall everything, but it's the best way to be sure that you've gotten rid of everything the hackers used against you, since from what I've read, people still haven't found the program/infection responsible for the hackings.

Make sure after your fresh install, you get a full Anti-Virus software as well as a spyware checker/remover, and read This thread to be sure to protect your future internet browsing endeavors.

I thought They had to crack both my passwords because I had a security 1 also ..good i wanted to get rid of vista anyway for letting people hack me so i guess now is the best time

There is a new exploit out there that has allowed a method of bypassing the token, but I don't know all of the details on how it works.

I found that I couldn´t sign into my account on Friday last week, (password not correct message)all weekend I couldn´t get on so on Monday I called Enix and after waiting 15 minutes for an operator I got to speak to someone who sent me an e-*mail about what I need to do. Next day I sent all the required info and now it´s saturday anmd have heard nothing. VERY SLOW response time from them. Amazing if it keeps going this way It´ll be next month when I get my account back if at all.
I had problems confirming that the account was mine because I didn´t remember the address I used to creat the account and they wouldn´t accept the credit card number as proof......just a serious pain in the -ss

It doesn't bypass the token. The token solves a specific problem, that exploit isn't it.

That's not exactly what I meant, though. It allows the hacker to "bypass" needing the token to be able to access and ultimately steal your account.

Thanks for the advice.I couldnt help but to be mad at SE thinkin it was there fault but it isn't. I understand now there are bad malicious hackers that steal ur acct and sell ur gil...I am reformating my computer and getting antivirus and a safe password. I am pretty sure I can call them and prove to them who I am lol.Thanks for the advice

Does anybody know if SE is still doing account rollbacks for hacked accounts? I know they were at one time, but I hadn't heard anything since mine was nabbed awhile back. I remember TGM said that her son got all of his gear back a short while ago, but I hadn't heard of anything else.

I think the basic method for the current hijack is to get something on your machine that redirects you from SE's servers, then they relay everything through their computer. Once you're online, they cut you out of the loop and take over the logged-in character...

Truth be told, I'm starting to worry myself, because I keep getting these messages about a script making things slow down on the wiki. It's probably past time I installed Firefox on my home computer, I had a browser hijack try to force me to agree to let something "scan my system"...

I am starting to worry myself too. A very close RL friend of mine just got hacked. His main and 3 mules were all tranfered to different severs and his CC charged.

Hate to admit but SE has a very very crappy customer service. It ha been a week since my friend sent his info and till no rollback. This is getting bad

Dang. Now that you mention it, when they were stealing characters and transferring them to different servers awhile back (In mass), were people actually being charged for the transfers or were the stealers changing the CC information before the transfer? I'm sure SE probably reimbursed those that were stolen if they did though, right?

It has already been a week. my friend check this CC statement and the charges are made. I dont know how SE will do but it was a 100 USD charge and still no response from SE

Using the security token prevents this.
