Ok I Called SE...got almost everything wrong lol ... I bought FFXI and used the pol registration 6-7 years ago...couldnt remember it so i tried using the new one...I got the credit card wrong since my mother just cancel'd the information becuase some1 hacked into her credit card..If they refuse to give me my account back (which I doubt ) Than I wont kno exactly what to do but it is my account 100%

They changed the password but i told the representative that the damage was already done and To just roll it back and send me the new password...well see what they do

I'm sure you probably already know this, but when you get the account back change that password immediately. We had somebody on here say that they got the account back, but didn't change the password for stupid reasons and it was stolen a 2nd time days later. It was that person's own fault though especially since SE tells you to change the password. >_>

But its good that they have made somewhat of a attempt, keep us up to date.

1. Computer get's infected with virus
2. Player is booted from POL/FFXI with the user has logged in from another location message
3. User attempts to log back in and POL either Hangs or Crashes outright, until user resets computer.
4. In the mean time User's account has been "Smashed/grabbed" and left at a telepoint usually (if character has WHM leveld)
5. User resets computer logs back in fine, as Hackers didn't bother to change anything just grab gear.


Apparently there's new variants of this also.

I just hope SE is implementing a better tracking system on XIV so gear is swiftly tracked and returned to it's owner without much of a hassle.

He wasnt very smart I read that forum too...he didnt re format his computer to make 100% sure he did not have any virus's...which obviously he did if it has been stolen a second time...u get 1 recall make it count lol

Just out of curriosity, WHICH password was incorrect/changed? Pol or token one? The reason I'm asking is becuse, though my account is currently inactive as I can't affort to play it atm, everything pol side is fine, however my security token password keeps telling me it's incorrect. Earlier I had logged in fine to update pol viewer, though i did have to turn OFF one time password to to do as the token is at home and i'm not. Same laptop tho, it travels with me to work etc.

So to double check things out, when i go to their token account management website to check if maybe vista is being stupid it says the password is incorrect. Hmmm...

Has option to reset password, so i did that. Only problem is it says it can take TWENTY FOUR hours!!! to get the email. WTF?? 24 hrs?! sigh.

I am hoping pol is being picky and wants my one time pword regardless of being off. But still, this is annoying. I logged in fine to update pol, why would the update fubar things. Grumble.

Any thoughts?
PS: I tried relogging in asap the update was completed, as POL auto prompts you to exit and restart it on updating.
PPS: Rummaging thru square enix token site, it sayd to contact the information center for issues....yet they don't tell you HOW TO DO SO?! I must be blind or vista is fubaring again. How the heck DO u contact anyone if you are having log in problems? /boggle. I refuse to pay for phone charges to some silly number that isn't toll free for customer suport. Not only that, I cant afford it either.

UPDATE: apparently even though u CAN disable one time password in pol viewer, you actualy can't. WTF? Then why is there that option. /boggle

Now i have to wait till friday when i'm home to use token bleh.

You can only disable the token from the SE account page, as far as I'm aware. If you have the token linked to your account but you disable the ability to use it in POL, it will just tell you the one-time password is wrong.

Ya but the thing is, i SHOULDN'T have been able to partially get into my account in the first place. IE: To disable the one time password in pol viewer in order to update pol viewer itself.

Maybe the update fixed that issue, hence why i cant log in without my token (slaps self for leaving it at home). But still, kinda scarey and i wont know anything for certain untill I get home from work as I live in.

Hai guys, didn't want to start a whole new thread, but my account was hacked too!

Brand new computer, decided to move from 360 to PC. Haven't noticed anything weird, haven't even logged into any sites that could have a keylogger, as I update security measures first (and my computer tells me secure sites before I visit them). I moved my accounts over from my 360 account to PC, and was hacked in less than one day!? W...t...f...? How did they do that? Have they had my password from perhaps a keylogger from an older visit to the compromised website? What are my options here?

Do I need to reformat AGAIN!? When I got the computer I did a clean format/reinstall just to be sure I have a clean system. Won't my spyware finder get it? Won't my firewall block it? My anti-virus is always up to date? I've alwyas thought I had a super secure PC, and then this happens...

Anything else I can do!?

Just an update, scanned my system last night a few times and found absolutely nothing, not even one case of any type of sypware or malware. Used several different spyware programs, even used some specifically geared towards keyloggers and still found nothing. There is nothing running in my processes that I don't know or anything that seems questionable...so seriously, how did I get hacked? Are there any keyloggers capable of running without me seeing them?
I moved to PC and was literally hacked within one f'in day?

If you have really been hacked that way, you need to contact SE, and get is straitened out with them, its the only way.
