O.O Thought for sure I'd seen some DRG in Hauby. Must be losing my mind. Forgive me, I just got up! Actually Barone body is pretty good for DRG.

I think Barone is more of a macro piece. The traditional Dragoon body piece is Assault Jerkin, but that requires killing Ose.

I see some DRGs TPing in Barone so maybe it's not terrible, then again my DRG is in the 20's. I see plenty of SH Dragoons about, so perhaps that would be an acceptable filler.

I had quite the laugh when I read the op! My son had just come into my room and was talking to me as I was reading it. He stopped talking and suddenly burst out laughing so hard and said DAD!!!! I knew immediately what he was talking about! You should have seen my husbands gear before my son and I helped him.......oh lordy. And gear swapping..........PFFT he didn't have any of it in his macros, he did it manually. And he'd only do it when he felt like it and it would be like one or two pieces. So I got at his macros one day and he freaked out the next time he got on his character. I just told him I COULD NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE! His gear is so much better now and he'll actually ask about stuff and if he should get it. He's still far from perfect like some of you, but its a massive improvement. Also, I'd like to say that for us older folks, gear isn't really that big of a deal. I mean we'd like to have it and all but the obsession to have the best really isn't all that important to us. After all my years of playing endgame, I still don't have key pieces that are now considered the old stuff from some kings/sky gods. But thanks for the giggles Murphie. My son said that he can TOTALLY relate and I'm sure he can! lol

It just sounds like the typical "computer illiterate parent" thing. Back when I lived with my mother (hell, even when I didn't but was still speaking to her) she'd ask me EVERY DAY for help with something on her computer, and even after I slowly and easily explained it to her, she'd continue to remain clueless. Maybe it's a generation gap thing, I don't know. Seems the older people, it's not that they don't care, they're just completely clueless/oblivious. Though they'd probably notice when their WS start doing more damage and they don't miss as much! Oh well, it's cool that older people want to play this game!

Barone body is really only good for an expensively overpriced macro item, or as a substitute for the Assault Jerkin. While by no means would I fault someone for TPing in it, I do think the AJ is better. For Monk and Dancer, while it may not be purchasable, the lvl 68 Cobra melee line is quite nice, and it is fairly easily obtainable. My 68 Blu is loving it at least. I don't know though, it could be that they have other better cheap options at 75, but I'm just tossing it out there.

Clearly the point here isn't pimp gear, it's non-gimp gear. 75WHM should have at least Walahra Turban, Noble's Tunic, Blessed Mitts, Blessed Trousers, and Blessed Pumps. Other good gear is Hierarch Belt, Empowering Mantle, Ajari Necklace, Beak Necklace, and some good MP rings. Mana Ring and Electrum Ring should be a minimum. There's other gear I have for DD WHM, but it sounds like your parents are a bit too casual for DD WHM.

My suggestion is log onto your parents characters and spend their gil on yourself. You're their son, its not like they can actually delete you. Aside from what I've seen suggested, get your mom some Dusk hands and feet. They cross over rather well between SAM and DNC, possibly MNK as well at merit level. |

Well, TGM, I used to manually gear swap. Made my macros a teeny bit more flexible, and saved me the time of ever having to rewrite them. Of course, that was back in the day before you got five billion macros, and I was a Black Mage, so I had time to swap stuff in while casting. Like AMMB. That was always fun. Anyway, I'd focus on getting them equipment that most or all of their jobs can use, and then worry about specializing. Better to have decent equipment with whatever you're doing than great equipment in one situation/job than great equipment half the time, and naked the rest. Use some database site to find what items are wearable (and useful) across their jobs. |

For TP, SH or Pahluwan are good too (assuming you don't have access to stuff like Homam). Assault gear in general is something you might want to look into since the three of you could probably trio some assaults. Amir feet are very nice and I think SAM and DRG can both use them, for example. I'm not a high level SAM or MNK so I'll focus on DRG here. Assuming no god, jailer, claimbot HNM, Dynamis, Limbus, Salvage, Einherjar, Nyzul, ZNM, or WotG beastman NM drops. Weapon: Thalassocrat or Mezraq Head: W Turban or Ohat for TP, Valk Mask or Wyvern Helm for WS Body: AJ, Pahluwan, SH Hands: Dusk, tarrasque mitts Legs: Dusk or Barone (There are not a lot of good accessible leg options for DRG) Feet: Amir if you can get them, idk what else is good Neck: chiv chain is good and not too expensive; pcharm is better but it sounds like they're not THAT rich. (If you decide to do assault for some of the gear on this list, you can get chiv chain for free that way too.) Earrings: Brutal is great if you can get it; assault and fowling are reasonably decent. Rings: rajas and ulthalam are ideal, but if you don't have the missions for them, sniper/woodsman/jaeger/ecphoria, and maybe swap in ruby/flame for WS. Back: Amemet should be the minimum here; there are pricier options which help a bit. Waist: life, potent, swordbelt+1 (to swap in for WS depending on situation).

He already has AJ. We got it for him last week. We camp regularly, since there are still four of us in the LS who need/want it.

Dusk Hands/Feet are great for the jobs who can use them PCC/Spectacles/Chiv Chain Walmart Turban is great for every job in the game SH/+1 Great for MNK/DRG/DNC Hauby/+1 for PLD/SAM Dunno about weapons but Hagun/Soboro SAM Joyeuse DNC/PLD Rings Rajas (For any of them) Woodsman/Snipers/+1 Ears Hollow DNC/MNK (not sure on other jobs) Or just a typical +ATK earring

A non haste TP setup for a non merited Dragoon: FFXIGEAR.com Some Rare/EX stuff in there, some of it's not. Shouldn't be terribly expensive. A fairly decent easy to get IMO setup for a Mnk/Dnc: FFXIGEAR.com ^^ Not quite how I'd gear monk possibly, but not that much different and as I said, it's a decent starting point. Reason I chose Mnk/Dnc was because I could It's something I've been wanting to try out in exp parties, but haven't yet. Also, when making gear choices I tend to go by this thread: Allakhazam.com: Final Fantasy XI To determine my accuracy levels for colibri, since that's all I'm ever invited to exp on. Besides, while I'm happy to gear up to take on Thf and Nin mobs, we do have to keep in mind that those are the most evasive jobs in the game, and that beastmen have better stats than beasts, so that much accuracy on another mob of similar level but different job or even different species is going to be overkill. If you've got enough accuracy to cap acc on colibri then you've got enough accuracy to do well on most anything exp related.
