n00b question about mules

Can someone explain the mule to me? I understand that you can make a mule character by paying an extra dollar per month..but what actually is a mule? Is another character that runs at the same time following you around? I'm a little confused

Re: n00b question about mules

Another character on your account used for extra storage, to raise another craft or for extra AH spaces.

Re: n00b question about mules

It's just a secondary character, nothing special about it. People can just use the extra space that comes with said character to store more items from the character they actually use to play the game.

No mate only one account can be online at one time. With the exception of "2boxing"
As far as I know anyway.

Re: n00b question about mules

Only if you have two separate accounts. Most people talking about mules mean extra characters on the same account, which can't be logged in simultaneously.

Fyi, two seperate accounts incurs two $12.95 fees. One account plus a mule = $12.95 + $1.00.

Re: n00b question about mules

I have 3 of em. I'll describe their functions and that is the best way for me to tell you about mules. They are not in-game followers at all... the are additional toons you play instead of the main one you focus on.

Mules are additional characters you may or may not want to level and play as actual characters. Some people do play multiple toons... but that's just not for me.

Each toon you make and pay the extra $1/month will have a Mog Safe of 50 spaces. So they can be mailed all that additional armor you're not using currently but think you'll use in the future. So that way your true toon's Mog Safe can be available for only what that toon really needs. Additionally they also have those mail slot spaces if you wish to store by that means as well.

My Sandy dude is my Old Gear storage person.

My Basty dude is what I send all the drops I get until they make stacks.

My Windy dude holds all the stacks of crystals I accumulate.

7 AH spots so when you have your main toon and several mules, you have more spaces on AH available to fill with things you wish to sell. I have random things being sold by all my mules all the time... I'd like to get one of my mules to Jeuno so I always have one there to check that AH and sell more items in the "Big City".

I have a lackeys in all the starting cities. If you spread them about you will have someone from each starting town that you can mail gil to if you need a item specific to that location. Or if items are selling better in one city than another.

There are proly more uses.. but these are the ones I can come up at this time.

Re: n00b question about mules

Pretty good list of what they are for. I also have two that I garden with- that way the pots and seeds don't take up mule space on my normal mules. And I did level one of my mules for choco digging as well - I never have enough room on my main to carry enough greens to make it worthwhile to dig.

Something else too - if you have a friend on a different server, you can start a mule on their server and play with them. You start out without all the goodies you have on your main (you cannot share items with characters on different servers) but you get to spend time with them.

Don't really need a mule to check the AH if you're running in windower or SE Windower, you could just check ffxiah. That'll save you some login and logout time to check. I sell most of my jeuno items on mules and I rarely sell anything on my main, except if there is a shortage in the AH. Especially now that there is the Jeuno->White Gate warp, usually I'd have to set my HP in my home country and then warp or blood warp back there since it takes too long to walk. I even have items on all my mules, and I need to seriously find a better way to organize them. I used to have a spreadsheet set up to do it, but that was too time consuming.

We don't use the retarded term 'toon's' in FFXI.
