I'm going to be playing FFXI again after not being on for a year. I'm a bit confused, though.

Do I use my old PlayOnline ID? I'm assuming I do because when I tried making a new ID I couldn't use the registration code from my FFXI game, probably because it's on my old ID.

^ Or could I be wrong about that? I know I completely got rid of my account when I quit last year.

If I do use my old account, it's not working. It says either the PlayOnline ID or password is incorrect, but I still have a note (and file on my computer) that says the ID and password I used. It is possible I changed the password at some point and forgot to update my note. If that's the case I'll just call them on Monday.

Pretty much, my question is am I using my old ID or do I have to make a new one?

When you say "I know I completely got rid of my account", does that mean you deleted it? If so, then you need to contact SE to see if they can recover it. Also have you check out the Return to Vana'diel program? If not, here is the link:

Have as much information as you can available when you call, like your personal info, credit card info, POL ID and password (returning and established players), and possibly your registration codes.

When I did the Return Home thing just now, it said this:

"- You are able to re-subscribe to PlayOnline through the standard process (Please log into PlayOnline to reactivate your account)."

So I guess I need to wait until Monday to call them... >< Oh well! Thanks for the help.

I have left and returned a couple times, and have always just used my old POL ID and just reactivated my Content IDs, and each time everything was how I left it. It sounds like you may have just forgotten your password, and Support can hopefully fix that for you.

I just got off the phone and am now logged on! ^^ Reactivated my characters with no problem. Thanks a lot for the help! Now it's time for FFXI updates! *claps*, everyone loves the hours of updates.

Hi folks

Ive been away from Vana'diel for about a year. I didnt cancel my account as i have done that before, and realised i had to buy a new copy of the game and start over. My card details changed since i stopped playing a year ago so i havent been billed for it. I really want to start playing again. I think i remember my password and i know my ID for definate, so i have 3 questions:

1.Will i be able to log in and just make a payment to continue playing or would my account have been automatically cancelled due to 1 year of non payment?

2.I tried calling squaresoft to confirm my password but i cant find the box with the registration code in, is there a way to find the code from my hard drive cus the game is still installed.

3.anyone know how i can get the game to work on vista? i wanted to install on my laptop but cant get it to work. I have used the vista compatible playonline viewer which now boots up but if memory serves me correctly, the game wont load once i log in.

Also just one more thing...I tried logging in just now, i think my password is ok as it loaded me into the bit of the POL viewer where you check your mails etc. The problem is, i clicked FFXI and it loaded up the screen with the "Play" button. I thought i would have to re-activate my content ID so i went to the content ID section but i got a message saying my username/password was incorrect?!?!? How can this be when i have logged into playonline?


Any help would be great.

1) I doubt you'll owe them a years worth of dues. It will probably be more like a month or two. You can try logging in but I think you might have to call them to straighten this out first, here is their info:

2) No you can't get the code off of your hard drive, you need the booklet with the code in it.

Thanks for getting back to me

All i had to do in the end was review content IDs and extend the contract. I had tried the official site for getting the game to work with Vista but i obviously downloaded the USA version of the POL viewer cus i went to playonline.com, selected UK at the bottom, then navigated to multimedia, and clicked on vista compatability on the left side. This was the correct version of trhe viewer. I simply installed that, then FFXI by running the setup off the disc and bingo! all working! updated last night and tested it this morning! W0000T!!!

Hehe thanks! Its nice to have my old character back!

It may be prudent to direct people to Http://www.playonline.com and let them choose which region they want. They will almost certainly get the right POL viewer that way.
