other than BST, what do you think?

In the middle of work right now but to quickly reply, giving you a brief:

1-37: Most jobs due to Fields of Valor, mobs are relatively weak still in these levels
37-59: BST, PUP, NIN, THF (with good evasion setup and blood bolts), DRG (if the mob cannot one shot you), BLU
60+: BLM, BST, DRG (with AF helm), PUP, BLU

Actually after writing of the above I don't know if it'll apply to anyone anymore, it'll depend on your job and preference. Most job can go balls to the walls on beastmen pets and get some quick EXP if you pull safely.

And actually, again, it varies with people's preferences and experiences with the game, there's too many to go around. Some levels are easier/harder for X job depending on mob, camp, place, abilities....

I personally had a lot of fun soloing as drg. I also do a lot of soloing as thf and ranger 25+ using bloody bolts. I've heard blu, pup, and dancer are great soloers, but I haven't unlocked any of those yet.

dnc is quite the soloer if you know how to build TP up in a good area with mix of monster. You can solo up to VT at any level with good evasion gear + merit on evasion.

However, dnc kill very very very very very very very very very slow.

Since we dug up a dead thread, I'll go ahead an post to it too:

Personally, I find BLU to be the best job I've ever solod with. At level 35, I can go out into any zone and solo EM's, DC, and obviously EPs. And I don't mean struggle to stay alive while taking 5 mins per kill. I can easily kill EM after EM after EM after EM without taking a kneel. Hell, I can still take a few tough mobs depending on MP and spells set. With the auto-refresh and regen available from FoV, soloing has never been easier!

If you want an incredibly fun job that excels at soloing, I'd recommend BLU. Just realize it takes a lot of work farming spells, and I'd advise you have definitely NIN, WAR, and WHM for subs, and maybe THF, RDM, etc.

Agreed. I actually have a reason to solo with my Blu to get the spells which can take forever. Apparently you have a better chance from higher lvl mobs, so thats decent solo xp, and with good spells, low levels stuff like coccoon and pollen, you can really survive. Its fun to learn new spells and its a great solo, imho.

Yeah, BLU just destroys anything T or lower it comes in contact with. I couldn't believe how fast I was massacring Goblins by level 18.

DRG comes in at a close 2nd alongside PUP. Healing Breath is really, really freaking good, and a well geared Automaton will make you wonder how you ever got along without it.


BST and DNC come in 3rd for me.

DRG/WHM I destroyed things with. I mostly soloed the 22 levels I did have on it before I quit (again). PUP is another great soloer. DNC is absolutely unhinged. My brother as BLU and me as DNC and we were taking on all kinds of things, and pulling in great exp.

Hell, we even got about 3-4 links on us and survived. It was crazy fun.

I'm starting back up again and this time my brother will be playing with me. We will both be fairly casual, so knowing which jobs we can solo/duo best with will be extremely useful for us.

In reference to dead threads, I really dont see any live threads so if you can, define the difference between the 2?

This forum used to be way more active, I used to post here under a different name years ago and completely lost the password since I took a few years off FFXI, the dead thread thing is stupid now as the forums are basically almost dead.

If you click on "New Posts" it'll show you the most recent posts. You can also search for new posts that have been active within the past 2 months within the search.

Then why dont you just consider a thread to be dead after it accumulates like 3-4 pages, then start a new one.

Seems logical to me that way.
