First of all to clear one thing up, this isn't Tipsy, I'm his friend currently using his account to post this topic.

So I've been playing FFXI for about 3-4 years now, and during that time, SE has decided to ban me twice on two different accounts for no reason at all. Both accounts were on Seraph server. The first one i lost was named Kingchubby, and the second one that just happened recently was Klngchubby(lower case L). When i lost the first account, i called like 15 times, but all they seemed concerned about was just getting me to give up and hang up the phone every time. One of them even tried to convince me that their weren't any supervisors.

I'm pretty sure i lost the first account because i shared a credit card with my brother who played on a whole different server and got banned for doing something he probably shouldnt have done. I dont think its quite fair that i got banned for what he did. I basically dumped 2 years worth of monthly payments into that account just to lose it for following the rules.

After that happened, i started a new account about a year later and put a lot of playtime on that. Then i decided to take a little break from the game, and just today tried to log back in, just to see that I was banned yet again. I instantly called Playonline and lets just say that was a waste of time.

So what im asking is, how can i explain this to SE to get my account(s) back? Every time i call and ask if it's possible to get them unbanned, they say that accounts cant be unbanned no matter of how or why they were banned. It has to be possible to get an account unbanned that was honestly banned for no reason. Can someone please assist me with this?

No offence but SE doesn't just ban people for no reason.

If I remember correctly, in some cases SE will ban by association of the credit card number, though I think that's more the case for RMT than other situations. Though I could be wrong.

Except they DON'T ban for no reason.

You admit your brother got banned, and used his credit card at that time. So they banned you and this flagged you. And either A) your using your brothers card still or B) SE got wind that you were the person they banned before, and banned you again. They've banned people who they've banned in the past several times before.

Also, you guys are saying there isn't a thing I can to get my first account back?

And if they banned my second account for a reason, why can't they tell me that reason? Why can't they tell me, "Oh, you have the same identification and info as someone who was banned, etc.."

So like, I could live in the same house as him, and just get banned for having the same phone number, address, and the such?

SE isn't that flawed, is it?

Credit card numbers are one of the only ways of tracking people on PoL. It's unfortunate that you lost your account because of your brother, but you should have known better than to share the same credit card on two separate accounts.

There's a reason why they banned you. Did you use the same credit card? Did you do anything that would lead SE to suspect you had connections to RMT?

As far as getting your account back after it's banned, that probably won't happen. SE even states that you do not own your account. They have the right to take it away whenever they want.

Using the same credit card as someone who got banned can get you banned by association. It sucks, but SE can't know that you're someone else who would take no part in the actions that cause him to get banned. All they have is your word and for them, and most companies, thats not good enough.

Your brother did something wrong, how do they know you're not involved? While it's obvious SE customer service is NOT the best around, at the same time IRL if someone was found to be doing something illegal and living in an apartment with other people, upon being arrested the police investigate those people.

If you were privy of the fact your brother was doing something wrong before you got banned, then it's noone else's fault. If you weren't, then its his fault for screwing you out of this game. SE is a business, and it's cheaper to just ban you if you're associated with something against their policies than just taking time(and in turn, money)to prove that you aren't doing something wrong in this case.

Kinda sucks, but that's how it is. Still try calling them though.

All persons using the according credit card, and information will be banned as well?

The ToS basically says they can withdraw service from you anytime they desire without having to give you any explanation. Most ToS's say this though, the problem with S-E is simply that they have one of the worst customer services known to man.

Thars yer problem. There's a little part of the TOS that says, basically, one account per person; although they also imply that minors are allowed to use their parent's account. Even if it weren't in there, however, you're a retard (also, Tipsy, when you stop by, you're a retard too) for sharing accounts. On anything, but MMOs and finances especially.

Best advice is to stop doing stupid shit, think of a good password, and don't give it to anyone. Not even your mother!

Concerning your first banning, whether you did anything wrong or not isn't the issue. They tie credit cards to account holder's identities. If they didn't do that, then a person who was banned can just create another account with the same credit card and different contact information and get around the banning process. There is also nothing stopping a person from opening as many accounts as they wish with one credit card and different contact info for each account. So in order to keep that person from coming back, guess what? They use the credit card as a means to ban them completely. In your case, they have no way of knowing that the person who committed the offense does not have access to that account, even if you say they don't. So they just assume that they do and deal with it accordingly.

They are not the first business to handle things that way and they definitely won't be the last. Honestly, by using his credit card you basically screwed yourself, and you should've been aware of the risks involved in doing that.

In the case of your second ban, you did say you took a break for a while. This is just speculation but it's possible your account got hacked while you were away from the game and got flagged for RMT in the process. Something had to have happened though. They don't just pluck accounts willy nilly out of a hat and say "Let's have a banfest today, Bob."

Also, the reason the OP got banned by association is because credit card number tracking is one of the ways they nail real money traders.

Even if you do nothing wrong yourself, getting another account banned on the same credit card number is going to get you banned - and coming back on that same card again will cause it to happen again.

Moral of the story: Don't use someone else's credit card who is also playing the game.
