Pad Layout, anyone plz?

Ok first of all, I used the search function but couldnt find anything. Also tried to find it on google but yeah without luck. I hope any of you guys can help me out on this instead of flaming and bashing

So here is my problem. I really dont get along with messy controls this game has on PC So since this game is available on PS2 and XBox what could be better than using the Pad from the console this game has been designed for. To make it short...I wanna use my PS3 Pad to play this game on PC but I couldnt find the Layout anywhere. I know I could simply map it the way I like but Im afraid that I will have like everything screwed up with that since functions of keys change depending on what you do (arrow keys for camera OR going through menus) so I would like to see the original keybinding from the PS2 Pad. I really couldnt find it anywhere and would appreciate any help on this.

Thx for reading

Ben

Re: Pad Layout, anyone plz?

D-pad = menu/target
Left stick = movement
Right stick = camera
Select = Show/hide windows?
Start = Temp logout? (That feature's gone AFAIK, I don't know what this does on PS2 now)
X = Cancel
O = Confirm
Square = Menu
Triangle = Switch windows
L2 = CTRL macros
L1 = Autorun
L3 = Heal/Lock target
R2 = ALT macros
R1 = Take screenshot
R3 = Toggle POV

Re: Pad Layout, anyone plz?

thanks a lot...one question...arent camera movement and menu control the same? I mean is it possible to split those up on PC so the right stick just controls camera and the d-pad is just for menus? that would be nice

Re: Pad Layout, anyone plz?

with the gamepad, the dpad will scroll through targets unless a menu is open, and if a menu is open it only uses the menu function. The right stick is for the camera. so yes, in essence it's already split up

The right thumbstick rotates the camera around the character. The D-Pad navigates you through menus and is also used to select objects (Other people, npcs, Auction House, yourself etc.)

EDIT: BTW I use my PS3 controller too, and it works great saying I got the PC version after playing on 360.

On the gamepad, by default, the D-Pad will control targets and menus, the left stick will control movement, the right stick will control the camera, like I listed. That's whether you're playing on PS2/3 or PC.

If by "on a PC" you mean "on a keyboard," you'll need to look in the keyboard configuration section of the settings menu. By default, the keyboard controls are set up so that the camera and menu are the same. You can split them up, though, since there are bindings for "camera up/down/left/right" and "menu/target up/down/left/right." I don't think this works very well under the standard keyboard layout, since you just don't have enough free keys that don't bring up the chat bar. But under compact layout, I've got WASD for movement, IJKL for camera only, QE for menu/target left/right and FV for menu/target up/down.

I believe if you leave menu/target and camera together, you can hold either shift or ctrl/alt to make them perform the function they're not performing. E.g., if the arrow keys are currently spinning the camera, try Shift or Ctrl and they'll start moving the menu/target cursor.

I'm pretty sure those are swapped, at least outside of Japan.

Haha, cool. See, I just ganked this out of an older thread I found (because searching actually does work), where they had the same conversation and ended with the opposite configuration. Been way too long since I played on PS2.

Re: Pad Layout, anyone plz?

I'm using a 360 pad with the following custom layout:

D-pad: Menu/Target
Left stick: move character
Right stick: Move camera
A button: Confirm
B button: Cancel
Whatever letter the blue button is: Switch windows
Y button: Menu
Start: Rest
Select (or whatever it is for the 360): Hide HUD
L1: Auto run
R1: Take screenshot/not used if I'm running Windower
L2/R2: Not used
L3/R3: Open Macro palletes 1 and 2

And the O and X thing has been generally swapped outside of Japan for most games for about 9-10 years now. In Japan the symbol "O" is used note a positive or correct answer and to confirm something while the symbol "X" is used to note a negative or wrong answer and to say you don't want something
