2 same vista pcs and one will not run ffxi

OK well i am new to this whole forums thing so bear with me..
I got 2
Compaq Presario SR5433WM-B Desktop PC w/ 19" LCD Monitor & Pentium Dual-Core Processor E2160
same thing, same everything about them, i installed the vista play online for both PC and then installed the cds/dvds for all the expansions. Then i went to ffxi configuration and got that the one it was on the old PC i had and then started ffxi, everything was going great until u get to the ffxi main screen right b4 the character select screen it is really laggy and jumping really bad (FPS 3-14) on the other PC but on this one it is working great no problems what so ever, but i looked up info about making that better and i still dont understand how 2 same PCs and only one will play ffxi. Please assist. Thank You.

It's possible they may have the same things and whatnot hardware-wise, but certain settings can be different on the software side, like virtual memory, or even different programs that are running in the background could be causing the lag. I could be wrong though, since I have been off a bit the last few times I've answered a question like this.

You're using Vista Home? If so... that's one thing right there. I personally use Ultimate (was lucky when I got my laptop) and I still hold that Ultimate is what Vista is supposed to be, everything else was cut from that... which is where there's so many problems with those... there's very few problems with Ultimate. I can see it possible that Home acts differently to an extreme that would cause the same program to act differently on the same hardware setups.

Is there anything that's different between the 2 computers? I don't mean hardware either. Software, especially things that run in the background, could very well be the problem.

I have vista home on both pc mine is working great and it is my wife's one that is being real picky we have the same specs and all the same things running in the background and i still don't understand where i can play it and she cant
