My Mood: | Vana'diel Collection for PS2
Yeah... just brought this finally. I've been needing CoP, ToAU and now WotG for a looooong time. Very confused though. Upon placing in disk in, I get sent to the PoL Viewer... and that's that. With a gesture of 'WTF' on my face, I pick up the manuel and proceed to read that I have to click Install on the side menu and install Final Fantasy XI. Before muttering to myself I already have FFXI and RoZ installed, I do so. Now I'm in a new screen with a rotating crystal with all the expansion names to the side claiming I do already have FFXI installed, and I will overwrite my files. So yeah... do I need to overwrite everything in order to install the rest of expansions? Unless somehow, by playing with the disc inside I don't have to install them and can play them right off it? ...Yeah, that would sound too good to be true. |

There's no option under "Install FFXI" to install the individual expansions?

Aside from the PlayOnline Viewer option, no. Nothing else there.

With the new Vana'diel collection, I think you have to install a fresh copy of it. I don't think you can install the expansions seperate. Just reformat the hard drive and install a fresh copy. But then again, you never know

I am in the same situation. Did this work? I am scared to death to reinstall says it will not overwrite character info. Does anyone know for sure???

Considering that character information is stored server side, I am pretty sure it won't be deleted. :p

My Mood: | Re: Vana'diel Collection for PS2 On the PC version you can download as many expansions you need even if you already have them with the collection. But, the Ps2 I am not so sure, but I doubt it would hurt anything if you were to override it.

As long as you remeber you Content ID and Password, you'll be fine. You'll lose your macros, unless you upload them to the server, which i'm still unsure of how to do so. I've done it for my ps3, and it's been all golden. Just remeber to tell it that you are NOT a New Memeber, and it'll ask for you content Id, and you're back in business. It'll take some time to update. But yeah. |
