My Mood: | Cancelling content ID but may come back in future?
(Nice search function by the way, when entering a thread name) Anyway, I have 3 friends that want to quit the game. I've looked around for answers but cannot find a definite one so I wanted to post a new topic. The summary of this is, I have 3 friends that want to quit the game. I am trying to persuade them to not delete their characters, but instead de-activate their content IDs incase they want to come back However, I am aware that characters get removed after 3 months. But say they do want to come back after ... 5 months, what will happen? I'm a little confused as to how exactly it all works or how some people quit and come back 15+ months later with the same character. Thanks in advance!

usually they can be recovered no problem. I myself recovered after about 5-7 months time, but I've heard times up to two years. As long as you don't physically delete teh character, POL has little reason to clear the information.

I recovered mine after 9 months wihtout having to call anyone. I just reactivated the IDs and everything was still there.

It's very safe to de-activate your Content ID as it is. After tree months, usually you can still re-activate your Content ID the normal way through the PlayOnline Viewer. If this doesn't work, you can try using the "Return to VanaDiel campaign" which is going on quite often. Using the campaign, you can use Type B to restore Content ID's more than 3 months old. With Type A you can even restore whole PlayOnline accounts if they became deleted/inactive. For more info about the campaign and when it's available, go to www.playonline.com/ff11us and click on the "Returning Adventurer's campaign" button on the lower-right side of the site. When the campaign isn't available at the time you wan't to use, usually you can still get your Content ID/PlayOnline account with Content ID back simply by calling POL. For POL contact info go to PlayOnline.com, click on the left for "Support." Important!: Always remember your original information you used to register your PlayOnline account. This includes your Pol ID (e.g. ABCD1234) with password and POL/FFXI Registration Codes. Registration Codes that can be used are Playonline, FFXI, FFXI: Rise of the Zilart or FFXI: Chains of Promathia. Registration codes of newer expansion packs can't be used. These are important. Note: If you purchased FFXI in certain box sets, like Collector's Edition for Xbox360 with everything in 1 pack, it's possible you don't have any of these Registration Code's. If that's the case, you can simply purchase one for your account through PlayOnline Viewer, at the Content ID menu. For the rest just remember your address data and such.. but there is only small chance you will forget this anyway.. Ps.: It's also always handy to keep the password for your PlayOnline Mail in mind. This is usually the same as the first PlayOnline password you chose. The PlayOnline Mail password does not automatically change when you change your PlayOnline account password.

Didn't S-E officially announce that they will return cancelled content ids for 1 year now? I quit Feb of 07 and just came back no problem using the reactivate option in POL.
