Besides its not like there is 1 specific way to fix the problem. Gosh knows I have had my fare share of it. It's S.E so you can pretty much consider it part of typical gameplay.

Why would I ignore you. Seems to me like the Mods have been doing that plenty themselves. Guess what though, You and I have been around these forums for a freaking long time. I was a visitor long before I even made an account so I have seen my fair share of repeated topics. But I don;t sign on to call them a bunch idiots.

This happened to me for awhile. At the same time, the server might of been to slow for your computers connection to pick up. Those are the two problems I had. I didn't even fix them to be honest, one day it just started working again. That and maybe you are running FFXI threw a firewall, I have had a few people have this problem for that reason.
Also, I wish you all could just get along...its not even that serious to even fight over something so dumb, if your ask me Feba your being the baby right now. I'll give you that.
But as Balfree has suggested, please refrain from coming down so hard on new members who've probably joined the site just to look for help with a problem. It hurts the integrity of the site, and the user community, as a whole. It may seem like preschool to you but if the guy is actually making a forum topic for it, he obviously needs assistance. If you have a problem with the topic at hand either A) Report it, B) Ignore it, or C) Become an mod.
I really appreciate the amount of assistance you give us when you do report threads, but try not to outweigh that by scaring away new members looking for help. You're not the only member of the community; if you think a thread shouldn't exist that's one thing, but at least allow others to give help when requested. As you can see by how this thread turned out, your methods aren't exactly constructive for discussion, and that goes for other users in this thread who've contributed to its derailing.
I'm choosing to leave this thread open until oka5 gets some more light shed on the problem, but I would appreciate it staying on topic until then. Any members refusing to keep it on topic will receive a Warning Infraction.
I would suggest calling PlayOnline Support as it seems to be an isolated FFXI problem. They may be able to walk you through a few troubleshooting methods. If that doesn't work, then contact your ISP. Troubleshooting network problems is not so easy as "I'm always disconnecting".
1. DSL, Cable, or 56k?
2. Is your X-box connected to a router?
3. Are there any other network devices on your network?
4. Do you have network issues with:
a. Other X-box MPOGs.
b. Other network devices/software.
5. If you are on DSL or 56k and you pick up a phone on the line connected to your modem do you hear any noise? Try pressing a key to silence the dialtone ? Static?
6. Is the disconnect period regular (on a fixed cycle) or irregular (at random)?
7. Does it make a difference which jack your network device is connected to?
8. Do the lights on your network device change when it's disconnecting?
I think that just about covers it.
Oh, and for Feba... Network diagnostics, no matter how simple you think they are, are not really something you can just find an FAQ on the Internet and fix DIY unless you know what's going on and where the problem is. I'm disappointed that you generated 2 pages of garbage in a thread that has nothing to do with you. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-04-2007, 01:09 AM | #40 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2007 Posts: 51 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 1 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 4,888 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 4,888 Donate | Re: problem I have a router i used cable and yesterday it was playing fine so i dnt know what the prblem is | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-04-2007, 01:14 AM | #41 (permalink) | | red means NO Super Moderator Join Date: May 2004 Location: Portugal Posts: 2,947 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 67 Thanked 174x in 104 Posts Gil: 27,003 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 27,003 Donate | Even if the damn question was asked a million times.

You will not come here and insult them, i've had it with that sort of attitude, why do you feel the need to do it? You're complaining but you're the one who actually did something wrong... just admit it already. A simple "use the search button" would've sufficed, but even that would be a worthless reply, to a seemingly worthless thread by your judgement. The red icon means you are disconnecting, it also shows up on other users so you can tell they are disconnecting, the problem happens to many people everyday, there isnt much you can do, but if you use a router, try connecting the cable directly next time it happens, that may be the problem, however unlikely. I have DC'd when quite happily playing on my PC and checking Wiki on my laptop, then traffic shaping, if I loaded my lap up then I would dc at "peak" times. also remember aot of ISP's now have caps i.e. once you have downloaded/uploaded a certain set limit (which these days is not hard to do) then they reduce your speed down to very slow, i got shaped like this once down to 378kb speed (down from 7mb) which sucks and FFXI became very laggy.
If it keeps happeneing then it might be worth getting your connection checked with you ISP. If everything is fine there then you might want to contact SE Tech support. they are more helpfull whe you have tested everything your end i.e. with your ISP etc. and would be more inclined to help in my experience.
