Shadow Lord - A storyline question

I was never really clear on this, so I was wondering if someone could help me out.
Was Raogrimm the same Shadow Lord 20 years ago, or was that Shadow Lord a different entity?

I believe he was the same shadowlord 20 years ago.
The northland investigation happenned first. That's where the cut scenes you see in rank 5 missions came from. Then the Shadowlord showed up and the first war against him began.

I'd alway thought the Northlands Expedition came after the crystal war?

Nope. The expedition definitely came first. Raogrimm became the Shadow Lord because of what happened.
