ok, need controller help, did search but cant find any help

I havent played ff for a few months and i used a ps2 controller and it worked fine, now i'm back with a new vista laptop. I can config my controller on vista and the playonline config, and it works perfectly on the playonline (like when i'm signing in to ff11) but as soon as i go into the actuall game (from the film scene and onwards) my controller doesnt work.
Anyone know why? I really cant think of why it doesnt work.

ive tried reinstalling the adapter and controller and its fine but still wont work on the game, this is really annoying me.

Did you press the analog button? (near the start button) If it's not lit, you can't use the big buttons to move around and change camera angles

make sure no buttons are being pressed or the analog sticks are pushed when the controller is plugged in. Your PS2 controller is USB?

There's a seperate config for ffxi. POL and FFXI are seperate.

in the end i figured that out and it now work.

Thanks for the advice anyway guys, but now theres something wrong with my camera, its keeps spinning and its really hard to move my character.

It is most likely that your calibration for the analog sticks is really terrible. Try checking your calibration in Control Panel > Game Controllers. It might also be possible that your mouse is off the side of the screen. I've had the analog sticks on many cheap controllers break, but the PS2 controller is of higher quality.
