Sorry if this is a dumb question, but if you have an Xbox 360 and Xbox live, do you need to pay an additional monthly fee to play this game? If so, how much is it?

you don't need to pay a xbox fee (silver live is enough), but the game itself is $12.95/month (not 30 days) for your first character. Each additional character will cost you another $1/month

if you find that to expensive just play on your PC, its also easyer to chat to other players because you have a keyboard, but im sure xbox's have a USB port to plug in a wireless keyboard of some sort.

You can use a USB keyboard on your 360, and I personally recommend it. While moving around and stuff is more comfortable with the controller, I find the keyboard is much better for chat (durr) and using commands.


And yes, you only need to pay the monthly subscription fee (it counts from the day you activated the content I.D.) and nothing else. As said above, XBL Silver is all you need.

That is a dumb question! Please forgive me...I keep making fun of this because I've seen it a million times...here's how I answer this thing:

1. Xbox Live is run by Microsoft
2. FFXI online and Playonline are run by Square Enix
3. The money you paid for Xbox live goes directly to Microsoft and Square Enix sees exactly $0 of that money!
4. The game plays on servers owned and operated by Square Enix and they allow for play with players using Playstation 2 systems and PCs. Those players already pay $12.95 a month to play and maintain SE's servers.

Cynical question for you: Why should you on your Xbox 360 get to play for free when the rest of us are paying money to play? Some fo you lolXbox360 people think just because you paid Microsoft that you should play some other company's mmorpg for free? NAH...Ain't gonna happen!

I think he was wondering if he had a Xbox Live Gold subscription ($8/month) if he had to pay extra for FFXI.

Just to add to what other people have said, Xbox Silver is enough to play then you just pay the FFXI monthly fee. Also, the game does not care if you sign in on a Xbox or PS2 or PC. I just got a big screen TV and plan on getting WotG for Xbox and I'll just log in using my original PC account.


BTW, anyone have suggestions for a wireless keyboard I could use on my 360?

Anything will work fine, really. Before I bought a bluetooth combo for my PS3, I was using a normal Logitech wireless set with a USB dongle. Worked like a charm on that and on a 360.

to answer the thread: u dont need to pay Xbox live to play this u can get a free acount with a new Windows ID and get a Gold free month then keep its at Silver and keep playing. So enjoy the game and hope u dont find much ppl like this lolShadowneko guy in game!
