Okay, so i just got my girlfriend a fat ps2 and harddrive that didn't come with final fantasy 11. my question is will i be able to let her download my disc and use my playonline id and final fantasy content id. So that we will both be able to play at the same time?

No. You'd need two different accounts.

You COULD buy a PC copy & set up a new account using the PC CD keys, then install it on the PS2 using your disc (assuming the PS2 doesn't require the disc to be in the drive to launch, I've never played PS2), and use that account for her. The PC version can be found for $20 or 30 with all expansions. Sucks, but it's an easy option.

He did not mention PC did he? If you are on the PC and she is on the PS2 then you will have to buy her a seperate copy for her system. If you are both on PC, I believe you can use the same install discs. However, like Teku said, you will have to purchase two seperate content ID's and be playing on two seperate consoles (PC or PS2).

You need to specify what YOU play on... your disc? Umm.. PC or PS2?

I started on PS2, and migrated to PC.
Each POL ID is their own account, so no, you won't be able to play at the same time. She needs to register a new set of Registration Keys to get her own Playonline ID.

I am assuming you also play on your PS2, since you are wondering if you can use your disc to install on her PS2. Well, you CAN use your disc to install, but she will still need her own disc to boot up the game. She will also need her own set of keys to set up her own PlayOnline account.

Both my wife and I play, but she is on the PC with her own disc and keys, and I am on my Xbox 360 with my own disc and keys.

There are possible ways to allow your gf to play FFXI without having to have the disc in her drive because she has a HD, but that gets into the topic of modding and piracy, which I am certain is not allowed on these forums...

Yeah, it is likely that he uses a PS2 also since his question almost seems to want to know if POL ID can be used on both at same time. He isn't exactly questioning the CDs.

Like someone already said, is no. Only 1 instance of a POL ID can be logged in at any given time. If someone else tries to log in with the same POL ID it will disconnect the current one using it. You would have get a second POL ID.

Like someone already said you can use PC registry keys to setup a POL ID to be used for registering. There is only 1 condition to it, the registry keys used have to be of the same region that the CDs installing the game are from.

So if you are installing the game with a Japanese version of the PS2 game then you need Japanese registry keys. If you are using North American version of the PS2 game then you need North American registry keys. Once a POL ID is created it doesn't matter what version or system you use.

ahh... so TECHNICALLY if someone only needed keys they could go out and buy the Xbox 360 version, which only costs $20, but comes with all 3 expansion POL keys.

As long as it's the right region then yes. When setting up the POL ID all it cares about is the version of the software and registry keys at that moment, as long as the two match it could care less about the specifics of the source. Though isn't the PC FFXI packs with all the expansions around $20 as well?

Could of sworn they did similar to EQ, when you buy EQs packs it comes with all the current expansions for $20. After that the next expansion is $20, but eventually a pack is released with all previous and that new expansion for $20 also. Kind of a standard method, let consumers buy the stuff how they want. If they are smart they'll buy the packs if they need to get 2 or more expansions.

Not true. PS2 isn't like the 360. You do NOT need the disc to boot up the game. The game loads on it's own from the HDD, not the disc. Of course I'm not talking about the install itself.
