Thats neither. Thats integrated graphics. Since i dont know your PC, open it up, and look at the slots. Thats the only way to be 100% sure

It looks like that's an "onboard" graphics chip. In otherwords, your PC doesn't have a video "card," rather it's part of the motherboard, which your monitor's plugged into. I can't really tell if your PC has an AGP slot without knowing the Brand name and the model of the PC (which you may be able to look specs up on the manufacturer's website). Judging from the picture alone doesn't really help. My guess is you don't have one, but that's a guess. Edit: "Integrated" heh, that's the word I was lookin for... need more coffee... |

Do yourself a favor and don't make a decision on your own ![]() Invite someone over that knows what there talking about and make sure you either have AGP or PCI slots. If you have AGP slots there the faster, if not you gotta settle with PCI

I would go with Thark601's advice. Other than that, given the fact that your PC has 4 USB ports I am gonna say it's a safe be that it is a newer motherboard and should almost certainly have an AGP slot (unless it's a really cheap board). Again, guessing by the USB ports I would assume that it is an AGP 8X slot, which supports the current cards. You should make sure of all this, though. There is no point in getting a high-end 8X AGP card if your PC won't support it. Have someone take a look. You can also go to Click Start -> Click Run -> Type winmsd -> Click Hardware Resources -> Click I/O and see if there is an AGP bus listed (Win 2000 and XP). |

OK! i did what you said Rubik, and the only bus's that are listed are PCI Bus's!!! So i guess i have to get a PCI card. Btw, my pc is an IBM, 2 or 3 years old, and has an Intel Extreme Graphics Controller (which is the video card)...So now...telll me what to do |

| Member Bronze Ribbon of Service | http://www.sisoftware.net/ You could use the sisoft sandra benchmark to get information on which motherboard you have. Then you could go to the motherboard maker's website with the model number to see if you have an AGP slot. |

your comp being 2 to 3 years old, i would say its not worth it to upgrade the graphics card alone. You don't seem to have too much computer knowledge so I would just suggest to buy a new computer. If you do decide to buy a graphics card, be aware: 1. Buy one of the cheapest cards you can find, its not worth it putting a graphics card of even $100 in a 2 to 3 year old comp. 2. CHECK YOUR POWER SUPPLY, graphics card need alot of power. You have a store bought computer which means you have to lowest possible power supply that will run whats in it (thats how companies like IBM, HP, etc save money). My suggestion would still be buy a new computer, it will be a better investment in the long run. |
