| Junior Member | Leveling Spots after 60.
It's gotten to the point where I can't take this anymore, Please forgive me if any of my opinions offend anyone. I'm disgusted and sick to the point where it makes my head hurt of fighting the same boring mobs 24/7. I'm a 60BRD/30WHM and I find it to be practically insulting that I'm fighting the same things at levels 50-60 that I did at levels 1-10. It feels like all I've worked for was in vain. It seems what this game lacks in variety it makes up for in eye candy. Anyway, the main reason I made this topic is because I need suggestions. I really want to know what other XP spots are out there besides Valley of Sorrows and Labyrinth of Onzozo. Both of these places suck because they can barely hold 2 parties. For those who've been there you should know what I'm talking about. Its ridiculous considering there's over 80 people in the level range of 60-63 and both areas combined can only hold 24 people (2 parties for each area). The problem is I like Labyrinth of Onzozo because for once I was actually fighting something different, those Toramas, and unlike every other normal mob they kept me on my toes because i had to pay close attention to the fight since they could paralyze and silence. Also the area in which we camped was really small (and the only place in the whole area for 60s that I know of) so I had to chose which 2 songs i was going to use during the fight while at the same time making sure no one was paralyzed or silenced. Call me backwards but that made the party alot more interesting, as opposed to the usual non-stratigic parties I've been in for that past 60 levels. Therefore after seeing the Labyrinth I dont think I can ever go back to Valley of Sorrows, I downright hate that place because its so bland and boring, just like Vomit Dunes. A friend told me of one other place though, Temple of Uggalepih. I actually got up a party and went there, only to find out Tonberries = Evil if you havent done Zilart Mission 4. So 'they' ended up going to Valley of Sorrows instead. So flame me all you want, I know such things are inevitable anyway, but I'd really appreciate it if anyone could share some information with me if you have any. Thanks. |

As a mage you can probably go to Boyahda for processionaires, but pre-64 (for melee) that can be tough w/o BRD so... Onzozo is again fine, but as you said, small camp (2 parties tops) and mobs with wicked evasion and buff abilities makes for some bad fights.

actually, there r many alternatives. it's just because many ppl don't know about them. but in reality, it's rather because they don't care to know, or at least won't try to. limiting this to 60-63, the following places at least make "ok" alternatives; 60-61; Gustav - Goblins, Skeletons, Crabs Zvahl Baileys - Demons (Ab, Ar, Bl, Do) Davoi - Orcs of the coffer keys 60-62; Upper Delkfutt's Tower - Bats, Giants, Pots Kuftal - Goblins, Raptors 62-; Monastic Cavern - the deepest part, 63- for Champions and Protectors

I've turned down like 6 parties today because they all ended up going to Valley of Sorrows. It was all so very disappointing. And if what you guys say is true then its a damn shame how lazy and tasteless people are (you can't blame it on ignorence in this case). I turned down about 3 Japanese parties because they were going to the Valley also. Thats what disappointed me the most, from my past experiances they always knew of some great places to level at. One night I'm going to try to convince a party to go to one of the places you guys mentioned, but chances they're willing to go there are slim to none. I have a feeling 60-65 will be my longest level span yet. -_-

From what our PLD told us, each Tonberry you kill you build up hate between all of them. They have an attak called Everyone's Grudge which the damage varies upon the amount of hate. If the hate is high, they can obliterate a level 75 PLD in one hit. Zilart Mission 4 supposedly has a 'key' to reset this hate and make the attack insignificant. That's just what I heard, never seen it happen though.

Actually the quest to reset tonberry hate has nothing directly to do with ZM4... but most people choose to do it at the same time. I've done the quest before even starting the Zilart missions. There is a quest, I forget the name, that starts in Norg. To recieve the quest, you first have to had been in a PT that has killed at least one tonberry (so as to have some of the tonberry hate). This guy (don't remember the name, but he's near the steps leading up to the back rooms on the right) will ask 3 gold beastcoins from you. If you give those to him, he'll give you a key item key; that is used to open the door in the Temple where hate is reset for a price. The more hate you have, the higher that price is. |

quest giver's name is Magephaud. also, u don't have to be in a PT; as long as u've fought Tonberries before, solo or patry, Magephaud will know that and ask for gold beastcoins, regardless of how many times u've fought them.

Its not Everyone's Grudge that causes the problem in ZM4, its Everyone's Rancor. I've heard that it does anywhere from 5x to 10x the damage that Everyone's Grudge would do. So, when my PT did it, we all reset hate and every tonberry we fought on the way to the BCNM we "helped" so that no hate would build. I believe Rancor did 0. As for where to hunt @ 60... my static had the same problem. Well, not really. We were fine w/ doing Raptors and birds in Valley of Sorrows. Those aren't really the same mobs you've been fighting since level 1. Not many people leveled off of skinks I don't think, so Valley should be a nice change. It does only support 2 PTs comfortably though (side rant: Why the hell do people make PTs and then go to a place like Valley of Sorrows if there are already 2+ PTs there?). @62 the exp got really poor in Valley... so we moved to Couerls in Onzozo (same side rant: people need to utilize the search option before bringing another PT to make crappy exp for everyone there). Couerls stink if you ask me. The RDM and SMN didn't get much time to rest because one always had to be up to remove silence and paralyze. The exp was slow, but the only other option that yields decent exp are Cockatrice in Terrigan, assuming you are packing a WHM with you. @63ish, you can start on processionaires, though they hit pretty hard @63, but you can stick w/ them till 67ish if you head down to the camp where the Ancient Goobbue hangs out. @ 67 I think you can do Darters w/ ease. I'm just trying to give a little guidance of where you "can" level. I completely agree that Square overuses the models, but then again, most MMORPGs are like that. The best place I've seen for low 60s is RuAun Gardens. |

funny, 60's another big lvl where ppl decide wether to go on or quit.. yes, lvling is boreing, redundant, sucks arse, but ya know it's lvling, it's not meant to be exciting, just grudge through it so you can go on to do better things

Hmm, Ru'Aun Gardens at 60s? Thats sounds like alot of fun. Naturally I bet I have to do some type of quest to be able to go there right?

You need to complete Zilart M13. This isn't easy for a PT of low 60s to do. I think mysterytour has a good walkthrough. You can probably find one if you search here too, I'd think.
