I just recieved this yesterday, and to be blunt, it sucks. I DC about every 5 minutes, without fail. Does anyone else have this internet, and if so, what has your experience with it been? ( I'm hoping I can fine tune it... )

The place where I work used to use Satellite internet until I recommended and implemented a switch to Cable.

Satellite Internet is very bad for any sort of Internet gaming.
This is because the signal must be sent from your house to a Satellite IN SPACE back down to earth then finally to the internet, it must then retrace that route to get back to you.

It takes a very long time for data to get to you and back. For normal web browsing this is not a problem, however with gaming, you need a low latency or ping and Satellite has highest I know of.

The reason why you are DCing probably is because it is taking so long for the packets to get to them and then send back to you that they are assuming you have DCed.

I'm not really sure of any ways to fine tune it though. Do you have to have Satellite because of your location?

Its most likely not your internet (this time

) since the update to supposedly fix the netcode, several i have talked to on midgard have been disconnecting. I personally have been disconnecting since the last patch but yesterday it had become much worse.

Yes- I recently moved to South Park Colorado, ( no joke ) And the only available highspeed up here is through direcway, and needless to say, it sucks.
I'm currently investigating possible other alternatives, but right now, even dialup is looking more appetizing.
( Atleast dialup is consistant. )

@_@ Time to call up the electronics shack ( seriously, it is a shack ) and threaten them I'm going to cancel if this thing isn't ungayed.

as far as playing this game is concerned, i'd say dial-up will prove to be the better option, as u seem to have already found out. not to mention this type of service could become unstable due to the extreme weather conditions. (i don't know how it is in South Park, CO, but if this could be a problem there... be prepared.)
