| Junior Member |    POL email trouble
I'm having trouble with my pol email every time I log in I get an error message saying "unable to check mail account on server. Please make sure your mail account settings are correct." I can go into my profile and change my mail address, but I can't change the address in my mail account. Also what is a POP3 server and SMTP sever.

Sorry I can't really help with your problem, but I can answwer your question. In laymen's terms, POP3 is the protocol used to receive mail from a server. SMTP is protocol used when sending mail to the server (as in an outgoing message). Usually the POP3 and SMTP servers are different, but in some cases they just use the same server address.
