What is the Cheapest Adv Job.

like as in haviing to buy Weaps. Armor.Earrings.Rings?

The two most expensive advanced job everyone would agree on would be NIN and RNG. The other ones, I would say, are about even to each other. PLD needs to keep up with the best armor and defense enhancing stuff, DRK with ATK, BRD with songs, and etc. IMO, I think the melees one, DRG and SAM in particular, are the least costly of them all. I know I'm going to get flamed from this :p.

I'd say DRG and SAM simply because they only have equipment/food costs, and no spell costs. Though some will argue SAM with rice balls later on gets more expensive.

Another "low cost" job is Summoner.you dont buy spells,the avatars get their abilities as you level.However the costs at first,assuming you do the lvl 20 solo fights are pretty high,potions,ethers etc.
All jobs are going to cost,theres armor and weapons,which if you want to get invites higher up,better be up to date.
I would recommend a non mage job if you want a lower cost alternative.

I doubt DRG and SAM are any cheaper than DRK. All 3 need to get 2 Sniper Rings and a peacock charm. Then there's Valkyrie Mask, Optical Hat, Haubregon(spelling is wrong, I know), Scorpion Harness, and who knows what else that costs over 100Kgil. Some things cost several million. None of the job are really cheap, if you don't want to be gimp compared to those that do get them. There's no way to get to high levels whithout spending losts of time working for gil. Companies wouldn't make very much on a MMORPG if the players could get to endgame in a month or two. The game has been designed to make you spend LOTS of time(and money$$).

csBahamut, the difference is DRK also needs spells.

The Absorb series, including Dex is 400k+, that's like an extra sniper ring. Drain and Aspir are another 50k, even if you quest for them (since your not selling them after you do the quest).

Absorb Dex is the most expensive, but a good DRK should have his full spell repetoire, along with full equipment.

If you want cheap, get BST and solo; no one will give a shit if you're using lv1 equip because you won't be pt'ing with anyone.

I think I went through 30~55 or so with little to no change in my equipment, and have yet to get hauberjeon/sniper*2 @ lv65 (I have 2 of those lv14 +2dex rings for "accuracy," laf). If you ignore the idiots that say that signas are an necessity (they aren't at all, and rumors are abound now that light staff will help charm more than signa), you could get by with very little cash going to equipment.

I couldn't choose a job solely base on how much it cost , thats just me though, what if you don't end up liking it in the long run. Guess you can also choose another, but thats more time spent if you don't like that job.

DRG is definately NOT one of the cheapest. Since the gear for them is so limited, they have to buy the more expensive armor. Scorpion Harness alone is 5 mil, then you gotta get Peacock Charm too which costs about 3.5mil x.x; DRK can use Haubergon which is only about 1mil - 1.1mil and Hauberk which costs 1.5m I believe (I can check the exact prices later). However, both jobs also have to buy 2 Sniper Rings (about 370k-price keeps fluctuating very rapidly). I'd say cheapest advanced job is SMN by far, because all melee really have to buy alot of +acc equip, which can be very very expensive.

DRK spells really arent that bad, only Absorb-Dex is a tiny bit pricey (around 400k) DRKs best buyable weapon costs 600k (a GS, which you'll most likely be using in favor of a Scythe). DRGs best buyable weapon is a Collosal Lance, which is 1.3mil :x
When I think expensive, I think of equipment/items that cost close to 1mil or more. Drain and Aspir prices are neglible. On my server those 2 spells costs 20k or less. The price of *all* drk spells together doesnt even come anywhere close to the cost of certain single armor pieces (for example, a Peacock Charm) other melees have to get, and they have to get multiple armor parts that cost just as much and more. DRK spell costs arent even nearly as bad as the cost of having *all* spells for a mage such as whm/rdm/blm. Yes DRK also has to get armor, but really its not any more expensive than any other melee job. Some are way cheaper since DRK has such a wide array of armor to choose from ;_; (yes, I'm jealous of DRKs xD)

We could do a price comparason (based on AH/NPC prices of course) of all jobs best equip+spells I suppose ^^

Hmm... seems that you guys like to assume that "the sky is the limit" with gear. There is good gear...and then there is crazy gear. By saying "Oh, well I need a scorpion harness for 7 million gil" ... then just make it 12 million and get a scorpion harness +1 Hell, while we're at it, let's just say that WHM is the most expensive because of the invaluable Kraken Club

There really isn't any "cheap" job. If you don't need crazy gear... you need tons of spells... If you don't need spells, to make your character perform his/her job even better, you'll want to pick up those really pricey items.

One person pointed out SMN as being a "cheap" job. In some ways it could be construed as that... but you'll be investing a crazy amount of time into getting fame (oh wait, that was before the level 20 avatar battles came out), maybe 50k-100k tops for the items to beat them... and hopefully you already have all your WHM spells up to 37 (Ok, so Erase would be the big ticket item).

But, any caster can tell you that MP gear (which is all the SMN wants) is really expensive. Any MP+ gear is ridiculous expensive. I think that Austere gear (2 million or so for the set) has good SMN attributes... tack on all those 1million - 2million level 50 staves... vermillion/royal cloak...serket ring... SMN ain't cheap.

I just wanted to clear the air there... hell! I thought SMN was cheap myself, till I saw the gear they have to get to perform their job even better.

There is no cheap job, no matter how you look at it. There is always gil to be spent somewhere to increase how well you can do your job.

Loial, you make some VERY good points. And I totally forgot about the +MP gears for SMN (my bad ;_; ). Spellwise, we can just assume every caster class gets all spells. Equipment-wise, there always seem to be something better to get for every job, that costs alot ; ; The question really is whether its worth it or not, just to get that extra stat point with HQ gears.

lol, a good bard should have close to 10 million in cost at level 75, and is still fairly expensive throughout the whole route to 75.
