Question Whats the idea with this monster TRAIN???

Hello everyone!!!
Recently I saw players who aggro monsters and then run to make them link as much as possible. Then HUGE train of linked monsters are following a player.
Anyone know whats the idea with that monster train??
Why players do such thing??
Its very confusing cause I always think that such player need help and I engage myself in battle. One player was even mad at me, and he told me that I shouldnt interfere

Greetings, Caspian

Was probably AE farming. Make a huge train then use -ga spells and AE WS.

My Mood:

I saw the same thing in Ghesba, someone running from a huge mob of orcs so I thought he needed help and took a couple of them out, him and someone who I can only assume was his partner put shouts out for noone to attack it.

Personally I say if you see someone gathering a train kill as many as possible. The greedy bastards have no write to say what you can and can't attack when they're gathering that many monsters. People do try to level there, all they're doing by gathering the train is making life harder for people who actually need to level there for the experience.

a lot of time it's mean shit ppl are running from too so you gotta watch out...

the other day i was doing my af2 and theres 2 lvl 50 nm orcs that spawn.... one way of doing it is to have a friend train them, and every other orc on the way to the zone

They have be shouting for you not to engage because you may get links from some of them and endanger yourself.

People who AE train a ton of monsters... should really only be doing it in areas where people are not leveling at the time. It is pretty wrong to go and take 20-30 mobs just to kill them. Is it against the rules? Unless it falls under "zone disruption," then probably not.

I aoe farm with my lvl 30 blm/15whm from time to time in the lower lvl places, but I always take into account the lower lvl char's there tring to lvl. I will usualy run though and train the mobs and if I see a small group of lower lvl char's there xping I will blow up the mobs that I have and let them know that I will go to the other side of the zone. This way they don't get pissed and move or have their PT brake up because of me. In one case I ran into groups on both sides of the zone that I farm so I asked the PT leader if they could move there camp to the other side with the other PT so that I could farm. Surprisingly they didn't have a problem with this and they moved their camp and thanked me for being polite and asking them instead of blowing everything up. The good thing about the zone that I farm in is that it isn't a normal xp zone and the people that are there xping are experianced players trying to stay away from the noob zones and understand what is up.

Hopefully you will only run into nice people. I only ran into one azzhole in my time while tring to do my rank quest. I guess I walked to close to his NM camp spot so he started to send nasty /tells to me so I gave him the /blist ^^.

If you are trying to lvling give them a tell and ask them to stay to one side of the zone or see if they will leave some of the spaws alone. If they are azzholes cuz you would like them to leave you a couple monsters to kill every 5 min or so to get some xp, just give them the /blist and move on. It is not worth the stress cuz it is only a game.

It's rude to do this.

I once met a RDM in Giddeus while lvling, the RDM was doing what Jizu was doing, he moved to another zone after he saw me lvling... but he also cleared all the Yagudo and earth worms he could before leaving... then he /tell to apologize... I was like 'then why did you kill them in the 1st place?'.. well he did say sorry, so I forgiven him, but still, there are other methods to farm than to take newbie's lvling monsters...

well... the place i see this most is giddeus. I have gone there to do it myself before as well. Don't blame the people though, blame squaresoft for making it worthwhile and/or REQUIRED. The only reason i was doing it was to do the yagudo bead necklace quest, so i could raise my fame for the ninja blink spell. if there was any other viable method of raising that fame quickly, i would have done that instead. but as it is, there is not many quests for teshido(sp?) fame, and the quickest of them is the yagudo necklace quest.

btw, if you see me doing this, and start following me around taking my mobs, that would be considered grief play, which IS against the rules. if someone really wanted to follow me around just to steal my mobs, i would warp and let them have my mobs... all of them.

bottom line is, it's the only method that a blm can use to farm anywhere near the speed of a melee. in giddeus, melee can kill the weak yagudo with 1 hit, as a blm, i can't do that. so i kill a bunch at once, then i have to rest for MP. I'm pretty certain that the blm method is STILL slower that melee though.

I make an effort to avoid people that are actually getting XP, but in giddeus, that is a very small minority of people, at least on my server.

I used to be pissed off at people that did this too, but now i find myself in the same position, and i can understand exactly why they did it, and i feel that it is something that is justified. however... in some areas... it is still not ok. for example, in ghelsba i can think of NO good reason to kill orcs there, as everything they would drop would be JUNK. Mob training with a purpose is acceptable in my opinion... but mob training to show off is just utterly wrong.

Yes it is a pretty sad game design when you have highlevel players training tens of monsters and AE killing them because its the fastest and most low risk way to make money.
It is kinda fun to kill 20 things in tahrongi/giddeus with an AE weaponskill though
Definitely do it away from people leveling.

one other question comes to mind regarding this topic.....

what other purpose do -ga spells serve other than mob training for farming?

i mean, really? sure you can burst a -ga spell every once in a while for a bit more damage, but other than that, well, there is no purpose... the only possible things i can think of would be sleep-ga, just to be able to get off an escape, but even then, it's generally alot more trouble than help.

the way this game works out, it's desirable to xp off of one mob at a time, yet blm's get a full range of AE spells.... if all of the sudden it became against the rules to train mobs for farming, then bam, i would essentially lose 100k+ worth of spells.

I think the key too all of this, is not doing it where people are XPing, and if you see people killing for xp, then give them a wide girth so that they are still able to progress. At the same time, low level characters should keep in mind certain areas that will be camped by high level characters (*cough* giddeus), and choose somewhere else to hunt. that way they wont even have to worry about being confronted with the issue in the first place.

on a somewhat related note.....

i used to play RagnarokOnline.... in which i was a knight... the best ability i had in that game was called bowling bash, which was a mobtrain-killing ability. the downside to that ability was that if the mob was small, the ability wouldn't work worth crap. so i did what everyone did, i made mobs to kill using the abilities that were given to me. YET, the company decided to make it against the rules to mob train. thus, my character instantly became a gimp. sure, i could kill 30 things at a time, but if anyone ever saw me doing it and screenshotted me, i'd get banned. the bowling bash ability was not even remotely usefull outside of a large mob as well, so the ONLY way that i could benefit from that skill was to make trains. needless to say, the whole situation pissed me off...

And if you see a lvl one person training mobs, dont help them. My evasion is so high it takes tons of mobs to ghetto warp in the begining zones.

I see no proublem with this. I farm in Yughott Grotto. I dont know about your servers but there are usaly only miners and people who camp Ashmaker in there, and I'm sure the campers dont mine the extra help. One thing I have a proublem with is because I am a RDM sub WHM the only 2 -ga spells I have are Diaga and Banishga whitch do almost no dammage so I end up melaying my way through the mess.

The orc in Ghelsba drop Fire Crystals by the truckload. When I was lvling on my last char, that's where I went to level, and from lvl 7 to lvl 10 I had gotten about ten full stacks of fire crystals. Considering they sell for 1800 a stack on weekends, that a significnat amount of money, for the number of orcs I killed. A higher level character could easily farm massive ammounts of crystals by mob farming there.

Also, melees can mob farm as well, if the level difference is high enough. I was able to mob farm as a lvl 20 Monk in Palasboug mines, quite well, though I'd only gather about four of five Quadav before killing them. The trick is that I was able to kill them so quickly, that they didn't so much damage to me, and the time saved by the autotarget switch made up for the time cost gathering the mobs. (Melee's have to wait for a few seconds between battles, before they can start a new fight, unless the other mob is attacking them and they can see it when the kill the mob they were previously attacking.)

Though, I've stopped mob farming entirely. There are more profitable ways to farm.

Personally though, I think that the insane cash requirements that most jobs have, tends to promote some rather nasty competition in gil making.
