How to change resolution without making windows small?

I noticed that when i put the overlay graphics resolution higher, the menus become increasingly smaller. How do i increase the quality of the menus without making them illegible?

the overlay bud..change the overl;ay to say 800x600 and the other graphics higher this should solve your problem

Overlay is the resolution that your computer displays, background is the resolution that your computer renders the game at. Background resolution is then reduced to overlay resolution.

You can't increase the "quality" of the menus because they are designed to be used at around 640x480-1024x768. The only thing I can suggest is that if you want to play at higher resolutions (like 1280x960 or 1600x1200), get a better/better monitor.
